Another good day on the competition mats for the team today against tough opposition. While medals are always nice, what we’re most proud of is seeing our athletes step up, put their training into action, show respect and continue to grow in confidence and experience. Every competition is an opportunity to learn, improve and build resilience.

A huge day for our team with some incredibly well deserved promotions.
Congratulations to Dan and Paul on earning their Black Belts. This achievement represents years of dedication, sacrifice, perseverance and countless hours on the mats. These two have been part of the journey since the Spartan days, the first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym in Rotorua. They have remained committed to the art through every chapter of their journey and are an integral part of our coaching team and without them we couldn’t do what we do. A Black Belt is not just a rank, it’s a reflection of years of consistency, resilience and a refusal to quit when things get tough. Both are incredibly deserving of this milestone.
Congratulations to Tere on receiving his Purple Belt. Tere is much more than a student at the gym, he is one of the people who helps build it, literally. Whether it’s lending a hand behind the scenes, supporting teammates, or bringing positivity to every session, he plays a huge role in the culture we’ve created. His willingness to serve others and the encouragement he gives to those around him make him an invaluable part of our team.
Congratulations also to Vince on earning his Blue Belt. Vince has shown great commitment and steady improvement and this promotion is a testament to the hard work he’s been putting in. With an exciting new chapter ahead as he prepares to become a father, it’s awesome to see him reach this milestone. We know he’ll bring the same dedication to fatherhood that he brings to training.
Belts are more than just a colour around your waist. They represent the lessons learned, the setbacks overcome, the friendships built and the commitment to keep showing up year after year.
