The elves have been productive at Neemo over the holidays and our preschool sandpit is beginning to take form - here's a sneak peek!

Our Children's Christmas Party today was an outstanding event. We would like to express our appreciation to Gone Bananas and Mug and Bean for joining us. We are also deeply grateful to our exceptional team for their hard work in delivering a fun and successful event for our Neemo whānau, it wouldn't be possible without them 💛

❗Get ready for high winds❗

🔴Dangerous winds are expected tomorrow in the Wellington and Canterbury regions. MetService has issued Red Warnings from tomorrow morning.

🔴Strong winds can fell trees and poles, tear off roofs, and cause flying objects.

🔴Avoid any not essential travel in affected areas and take extreme caution when walking outside or driving.

To prepare your home for strong winds:

🔴Bring inside or tie down anything that can be broken or picked up by strong winds, such as outdoor furniture.

🔴If you have a trampoline, turn it upside down to minimise the surface area exposed to wind.

🔴Remove any debris or loose items from around your property. Branches and firewood may become missiles in strong winds.

🔴Bring pets indoors. They can be unsettled by storms and it is more comforting and safer for them to be with you.

🔴Identify a safe location in your whare/home for household members to gather during a storm. This should be a place away from windows, skylights, or glass doors, which can be broken by strong winds or hail and cause damage or injury.

🔴Keep materials at hand for repairing windows, such as tarpaulins, boards and duct tape.

Your tamariki's nutrition is really important to us! we are a fully catered Centre and our phenomenal chef Bex is always whipping up a storm in the kitchen food really is her passion.

Bex is always thinking up new recipes for our vegetarian based menu and with a bit of inspiration from Chelsea Winter..this week Bex made NOT DOGS!!!! 🌭
These were a huge hit with our tamariki and will be added to our regular menu. Our parents you are always welcome to pop in and check our menu in our kitchen. 👩‍🍳

Our wonderful Chelsea organised a centre-wide Purple Day in support of The Little Miracles Trust, who provide incredible support to babies and whānau navigating life in NICU 💜

Every year, around 5,000 babies receive care through NICU services, and we loved coming together to give back to such an amazing cause. Thank you to everyone who joined in and wore purple. It was a day full of aroha, fun and PURPLE 💜 Thank you Chelsea and thank you to the incredible team at The Little Miracles Trust

Our amazing Centre Chef is expecting! and we are over the moon for her and her whānau. We now need to find another amazing Centre Chef to run her beautiful kitchen while she is away on Maternity leave.

🌿 Childcare Centre Cook – Maternity Cover (December 2025 – August 2026)
Neemo Childcare Centre

We are seeking a warm, organised and passionate Cook to join our Neemo Childcare Centre team on a full-time maternity cover contract from December 2025 through August 2026.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm

This is a fast-paced and rewarding role in which you will provide nutritious, vegetarian meals for our tamariki. You will manage the full kitchen independently, with responsibility for:

- Preparing and cooking daily meals and snacks

- Menu planning and creation

- Catering to allergy and dietary requirements

- Ordering and maintaining stock

- Ensuring excellent food safety, hygiene and record-keeping

- Overseeing and completing laundry duties and occasional classroom support.

What we are looking for:

- A passion for cooking and a love for children

- Strong time management and organisational skills

- Excellent knowledge of health, hygiene and food safety practices

- Confidence with administration tasks (ordering, stock control, allergy documentation)

- Previous childcare cook experience preferred, but not essential

This role would also suit a chef looking for family-friendly hours and a meaningful change of pace

We are welcoming the sun today and our tamariki are having a blast in the mud pit! At Neemo we love letting our tamaiki lead their own learning and this team are in full swing making mud-pies and exploring textures! Ka mau te whei! How exciting!

Another fabulous year around the sun for Neemo - Rolleston Childcare Centre Happy 3rd Birthday 🎂 we had a blast yesterday in our orange gear, playing, dancing and eating the day away!

We would like to take this opportunity to wish our families and friends a happy New Year for 2025! The team has been diligently preparing the Centre and we are thrilled to start a new and exciting year with you all!
