Kia Ora Whanau we are asking our wonderful parents if anyone is able to pick up a woodwork table and a shelving unit from the Otama Playgroup by tomorrow if possible. You will need some muscle and a trailer. Please ring Jess at the office or post message here

We have some spaces available for the last part of 2022 and for the coming year 2023.
As spaces are filling up fast, now is the time for you or some one you know, who are thinking about enrolling their child, please let them know.
If any existing families want to increase their child's attendance at Funshine for the same period, please get in touch.

Kia Ora,

As you are all no doubt aware, at 11:59pm tonight (Sunday 23rd January 2022) the country will be moving to the Red Traffic Light System.

Under Red level, Funshine will remain open for all tamariki, however there are a few requirements we MUST follow, therefore we ask for your help and understanding as we move into this level.

Below are the requirements for our centre:

👉All children and parents/caregivers are welcome at the centre.

👉All parents/caregivers/visitors to the centre are required to wear a mask and keep a 1m distance from other adults. This includes pickups and drop offs. Also please use the hand sanitizer at the sign in tablet and if you or your child is sick - stay home.

👉Parents/Caregivers who can supervise their children at home are encouraged to do so. You will not lose your spot at Funshine if you choose to supervise your child at home during Red Level.

👉We will not ask you for your vaccination status to enter the centre as a parent/caregiver. However, all staff, visitors and volunteers must be vaccinated.

👉Children can attend more than one service i.e Funshine and homebased care, however we ask parents/caregivers to consider minimizing the number of children and other adults that their child interacts with. If it is possible to limit this, please do so.

👉Children must bring their own lunchbox with their own food, we cannot allow sharing of food from one child to another.

👉Excursions may be cancelled at the discretion of the centre, this decision will be made closer to the start of Term 1.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact either Jess or Jacqui in the office. We appreciate this is a difficult time for everyone and ask that we all try and support the new requirements.

Some of you may have noticed that our lovely Beky hasn't been at Funshine for a while. Beky has decided to step away from her role as Teacher Aide (and all round superhero) to follow a new path.

Beky has been working at Funshine for a long time and has given so much love and time to our tamariki; her warm and gentle nature made her a hit with all the children. She has been a valuable member of the Funshine Family and will be missed by all the children and staff.

Please take a moment to wish her well as she moves on to new exciting adventures for her and her family.

God bless Beky, we have loved having you as a team member at Funshine and we will miss you so much. Remember, it is quite acceptable to come for a visit every now and again😃!

It is with a heavy heart that we want to let all our families know, our amazing Team Leader and Head Teacher, Aroha will be leaving us at the end of this year.

Aroha has been a huge part of Funshine for 7 years and will be sorely missed. For those of you that don't know, Aroha came to Funshine in 2014 and very quickly found her feet with our centre and tamariki. It's no surprise to any of us, that when the then Head Teacher left back in 2017, Aroha stepped up to run and guide the centre.

Funshine would not be what it is today without all her dedication, long nights and hard mahi. Please take the time to say thank you and farewell to her before we break for Christmas as she is moving on to exciting new opportunities in the New Year.

God bless you Aroha, we love you and will miss you so much. Thank you for all you've done for Funshine, you will always be part of the family and we hope you continue to visit us!

We are looking for an amazing person to join our fantastic down-to-earth team. We are a small rural centre in Northern Southland that have solid roots in farming and agriculture. We are licensed for 37 children and offer a great outdoor area as well as regular Tree Kindy Trips to local parks. We strive to maintain a ‘home away from home’ feel at the centre and know all our families well.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about our tamariki and their development. While we would ideally be looking for a qualified and registered ECE teacher, we also welcome applications from Primary trained teachers, in-training teachers and those wanting to begin their career in early childhood. For us, the importance is finding the right person who has the passion and heart to be an amazing kaiako for our children.

Our philosophy is centred around our Christian faith and puts our tamariki at the centre of all we do. As a registered charity, our goal is to the remove barriers that prevent access to quality education for under 5’s.
