🐋🐬 Project Jonah Visit! 🌊

We had a very special visit from the lovely Shirley from Project Jonah, who came along to teach us all about whales and dolphins! 🐋💙

The tamariki learnt about these amazing sea creatures and what we can do to help if we ever come across a stranded whale or dolphin. It was such a wonderful opportunity to learn how we can care for and protect our marine life. 🌊

We had so much fun getting hands-on too! We measured our whole class to see just how BIG some whales can be and wow, they are huge! 😲🐋

We then met a very special pretend stranded whale called Joy. The tamariki helped to keep Joy cool by gently pouring water over her, just like we would if we found a stranded whale on the beach. 💦🐋

A huge thank you to Shirley and Project Jonah for coming to visit us and teaching our tamariki such an important message about caring for our ocean and the incredible creatures who call it home. 💙🌊

🌼 Daffodil Day 🌼

Today we supported Daffodil Day by purchasing beautiful daffodils from the Cancer Society ladies and getting creative with our own daffodil colouring! 🌼💛

A lovely way for our tamariki to learn about kindness, helping others and supporting an important cause. 💛

Today our tamariki had lots of fun putting our new rackets to the test! 🏏💛

Each child had a turn to have a go, practising their hand-eye coordination while learning the importance of taking turns and waiting patiently for their friends.

It was wonderful to see the children encouraging one another, having a go and enjoying being active together!

Yes! any child can have a sleep during the day.
We have a cozy sleep room away from the excitement of the classroom where your infant or younger child can sleep for as long as they need, and our our older children also all have a rest in a classroom area after lunch.
They are checked by a teacher every 5 minutes for comfort and safety.

Yesterday, a few of our tamariki came up with the wonderful idea of building a plane! With a little help from our teachers, they worked together using loose parts to assemble their very own plane.

The teamwork, creativity and imagination on display was amazing! Once the plane was ready, the children climbed onto the wings and began jumping off, pretending they were skydiving.

Then one of our tamariki had an even better idea… parachutes! 💡 So, one of our teachers headed inside and came back with some balloons, which were tied to the children as their very own parachutes. The children then took turns “jumping” out of the plane.

It was pretty funny hearing some of the children tell their parents at the end of the day that they had “jumped out of an airplane with a parachute”! 😂

We love seeing where our tamariki’s imaginations can take them when they have the freedom to create, explore and work together.

Richmond Preschool boasts three large classrooms and two beautiful shared outdoors areas. Our rear playground is a hidden treasure, complete with climbing fort, sandpit and is surrounded by nature. We may look small from the front, but you will be surprised to see how big our preschool really is when you come and visit us!
