Amazing work Laura ๐Ÿ‘

Reached milestone of my 50th 5km Parkrun this morning at Neale Park in time of 29:20. A modest achievement alongside Sarah Walterโ€™s (Australia) 200th ๐Ÿ˜ฌand Laura Mielkeโ€™s (Germany) 100th ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. Added fun that many in tutus for 22 August. Big thanks to team of volunteers including Michael Burt and Dawn Swanepoel in photo.

I love this weekly free, fun event at 8am every Saturday and the camaraderie amongst runners and walkers. Parkrun started in Bushy Park London in 2002 and which now operates in over 20 countries with 2000 communities involving 10 million people. Itโ€™s amazing how many internationalโ€™s join us each Saturday at Neale Park.

There are 75 parkruns in NZ including ours at Nealepark and Motueka Beach Reserve. It would be great to get another at Saxton for people in Stoke and Richmond.

One of the best things about hosting an international student is the special connections that are made along the way! ๐ŸŽŒ

Andrew and Mallissa Gillespie, who are hosting Riano, recently travelled to Japan and had the chance to meet Rianoโ€™s mum and aunty. What a wonderful experience for everyone and such a lovely way to strengthen the connection between both families.

Our ever-popular Cultural Night, held in the Hall last night, was an incredible celebration of the many cultures represented within our international community. Students shared delicious dishes from their home countries and wowed the audience with a variety of cultural performances.

A huge thank you to each and every student who participated and proudly showcased their country. Whether through dance, music, storytelling, or sharing interesting cultural facts, every performance was heartfelt, inspiring, and truly memorable. We are incredibly fortunate to have such talented and passionate students as part of the Waimea College community.

Keep a look out for more photos/videos of this amazing event.
