Mihi School

Mihi School At Mihi School, we believe that "small" is one of our greatest strengths. A page for the Mihi community to keep up to date with school notices.

Nestled in our unique rural landscape, we offer a learning environment where every child is known, every family is part of the whānau, and every day is an adventure for learning.

Break times this week have been all about hut building!
Their structures started out very simple, but with some guidance and saw-power from Matua Ra 🪚 (who just couldn’t stay away!), we now have some very elaborate huts. It’s been great watching them all work together and take on the different roles - from decorators who were tasked to make the huts ‘pretty’ 🌸, to the builders who constructed the huts 🔨, to the architects who took on more of a supervisor role 👷🏻‍♂️, every student has played their part.
My role is the toughest - they’ve asked me to make sure the wind doesn’t blow it over during the weekend 😬💨🍃.

Calling all families moving to the area or those with pre-schoolers turning 5!
Join us at Mihi School in 2027!

Completing your enrolment form early helps us to get ahead of the game and organise our classes, staffing, and resources so your child has the best possible start to their school journey.

Why should you choose Mihi School?
- Nestled in a unique rural landscape, we offer a learning environment where every child is known, every family is part of the whānau, and everyday is centred around learning.

- With small class sizes, our students don’t get lost in the crowd. Teaching and learning is specifically and individually designed by experienced teachers, so that every student is supported and challenged to reach their full potential.

- Mihi School is well-resourced, offering our tamariki access to modern technology, diverse learning tools, and a range of high-quality facilities. This combination of a "big-opportunity" toolkit and a "small-school" heart creates the perfect environment for students to thrive.

- We embrace our rural identity through our localised curriculum, connecting learning from our local surroundings, our local people and local resources, with the students in an authentic way.

How can you enrol?
It's easy - head over to our website, https://www.mihi.school.nz/our-school/enrolment-information, to complete the online enrolment form, or drop by the school office to grab an enrolment pack.

If you have a neighbour, a friend, or a family member moving to the area or with a pre-schooler turning 5, please tag them below or share this post!
We can't wait to welcome our newest learners.

Thank you for taking the time to consider Mihi School for your child. Not every school is the right fit for every child - finding the best fit for your child is important. The best way to do this is to visit the school during normal school hours. Schools have a feeling about them, and I know that

Even on the frosty mornings Mihi School is a beautiful spot! Whaea Connie took these pictures of the recent hoar frost that hung around until almost lunchtime! We were even close to getting snow the other day with snow settling on the very close by Paeroa Ranges!

While our Seniors were exploring the city on camp, our Juniors were having a great time with the school all to themselves!
They played hosts on Wednesday - showing preschoolers what we do at Mihi School as part of our Junior Open Day, featuring Bike Taupō and Kids Greening Taupo.
On Thursday and Friday, they were busy exploring their artistic talents by experiencing gelli plate printing. The tamariki learnt about colour, texture, shape and layers while learning the essential skills for creating beautiful hand made prints. They even got to taste some Jelly on a Plate - Wibble Wobble!

Today we discovered that the students have a far stronger stomach than Whaea Jenna (who only just managed to ride the pirate ship without being sick 🤢) as they enthusiastically jumped on every stomach turning, gravity beating, fast paced ride they could!
An adrenalin-filled day was the best way to finish our city camp! 🏙️

Thanks Kids Greening Taupō! We love learning with you at Mihi School!
