Ake, Ake, Ake - A Forever Language

Next week we celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori.

Te reo Māori is more than a language. It is part of who we are, the stories we share, the places we live, the people we connect with and the future we create together.

This year’s kaupapa celebrates Te Reo Towns - recognising the kura, marae, whānau, businesses, clubs and communities that help keep te reo Māori alive and thriving in everyday life.

And we’d love our Tūtira whānau to join us at home too!

💬 Try using a new kupu each day
🏠 Use a little more reo around the whare
🎵 Listen to or sing a waiata Māori
👋 Practise your greetings
❤️ Encourage each other to have a go
🌱 Most importantly, keep the reo alive by using it!

You don’t need to be fluent. Every kupu counts. Every kōrero counts. Every person who has a go helps strengthen te reo Māori.

We have found our Genie Three Wishes Competition winner!

A huge congratulations to Frankie from Tipu 4, whose three wishes absolutely captured the magic, imagination and heart of Aladdin! 🧞‍♂️💫

Frankie wished for:

✨ Courage Chalk to make those nervous butterflies disappear and help us feel brave when trying something new.

🎶 The Magic Music Speaker to turn any ouch or sad moment into music, healing, happiness and dancing!

We LOVED that Frankie’s wishes weren’t just magical… they were kind, creative, courageous and good for the world. ❤️

🛴 Scooter Etiquette Reminder 🛴

A little reminder for our Tūtira Ashgrove tamariki who use scooters on the streets surrounding our school after school hours.

When scooting, please be mindful of pedestrians and other people using the footpaths. Slow down, give pedestrians plenty of space, pass safely and be prepared to stop when needed. Our streets and footpaths are shared spaces, and a little courtesy goes a long way.

We know our tamariki love getting out on their scooters, and we want them to enjoy doing so safely while showing respect for others in our community. 💚

Whānau, please reinforce this message with your children and have a chat with them about being safe, considerate and aware when scooting around the neighbourhood after school.

Thanks everyone for helping us look after our tamariki and our wider community. 🛴💚

🪄✨ SUNDAY REHEARSALS ARE COMPLETE! ✨🪄

Another Sunday of Aladdin rehearsals done and dusted! 🎭 (No more Sunday rehearsals!)

A huge thank you to our amazing team of Lead and Supporting Lead Parts who have given up their Sundays, turned up ready to work and given their very best every single time. ❤️

There are definitely moments when being part of a big production involves a LOT of waiting around! 😂 But that is all part of the process. Everyone has a role to play in baking our Aladdin cake, and now we are at the exciting stage of adding the icing and bringing all those different ingredients together. 🍰🪄

I am incredibly proud of these students. Their commitment, patience, resilience, talent and camaraderie have been fantastic to watch. They are working so hard to refine their performances and bring their characters to life.

A very special thank you to Mrs Galbraith, who has given up EVERY SINGLE SUNDAY with me throughout this process. I honestly couldn't have done it without you! ❤️

And thank you to our wonderful Stage Managers, Mrs Leonard and Mrs Bester, who joined us today, watched, listened and took lots of notes as we continue to fine tune everything. 🎬📝

The countdown is officially on...

🎭 FIRST DRESS REHEARSAL IS JUST OVER ONE WEEK AWAY! 🎭
