Salta Horses - Learning and Development

Salta Horses - Learning and Development Facilitated work with the Salta Horses herd will empower your team to take a creative approach to overcoming workplace challenges.

We provide unforgettable, horse assisted leadership, team-building, wellbeing and resilience programmes that will grow your team's ability to utilise their strengths, to lead from within and to achieve measurable results. You’ll interact with our horses in a safe, enclosed area and remain on the ground with no horse riding involved, no horse experience necessary. Our interactions with horses can

amplify what is happening in the workplace, allowing for safe and solutions-focused conversations. You will discover new ways of working with colleagues and learn how to think outside the square in order to problem-solve together. Horses are great equalisers because they respond to us honestly, regardless of our status in the workplace. Observing herd dynamics can help us to recognise patterns and behaviours in our own organisation that we may wish to change. Being around horses also encourages us to focus on the here and now - their sheer size and presence cannot be ignored. This encourages reflection, creativity and behaviour shifts. Managing Director Deirdre Ryan brings over 30 years of experience in senior leadership, coaching, and facilitation within central and local government, education, parks and recreation, and social services. With her first-hand experience of leadership through the response and recovery phases of the Canterbury and Hurunui earthquakes, Deirdre is a specialist in leading teams through uncertainty. For Deirdre, Salta Horses represents the culmination of a fulfilling and challenging leadership career, combined with her lifelong love of horsemanship - the willing communication between horse and human.

How can horses help people?

What do horses have to do with building team trust, clarifying team purpose and optimising organisational performance?

Many organisational learning and development opportunities involve the experiential learning process, to teach us how to do better. In a nutshell, this process is based on the principle that people learn best by doing.

Essentially, this involves facilitating the five stages of experiencing, sharing, processing, generalising, then finally applying by bringing the combined learning from these stages to enable change.
