Our senior students are hard at work completing their senior projects, collaborating with others as well as working independently as they take advantage of our small class sizes to bring their big ideas to life.

It’s great to see students taking ownership of their projects, solving problems, developing practical skills and creating something they can be proud of.

Tomorrow’s the day! Our First XV Hockey Team departs for Nelson to compete in the Kate Trolove Tournament, returning next Saturday.

A huge thank‑you to Nikki (Manager), Michelle (Coach), and parents Bridget, Roger, and Logan for supporting the team on their travels. To our amazing community — thank you to the farmers who offered fundraising jobs, and to our hockey team members who rolled up their sleeves to clean out woolsheds and pick up tree debris. Thanks also to everyone who supported us by buying pies or cheese or coming along to the Jingo night. Your backing makes a real difference.

We gratefully acknowledge our sponsors:

Good luck team — play hard, play fair, and enjoy every moment!

We are proud to share that Jake Smith was named as a Student Excellence Award recipient at the New Zealand Area Schools Conference. This national honour was awarded to only five students from a pool of 30 nominees across Aotearoa, recognising exceptional character, contribution, and resilience.
Jake was nominated for his excellent attitude and gutsy determination — qualities that have long been evident in his leadership and involvement within our school community.

Many in our community will be aware that on 28 December 2024, Jake was involved in a serious motorbike accident in which he sustained significant neck and spinal cord injuries. He spent 26 nights in the Intensive Care Unit at Christchurch Hospital before being transferred to the Burwood Spinal Unit. Jake approached his recovery journey, with courage and determination.

Jake’s recognition at a national level is a testament to his strength of character and the high regard in which he is held by all. Our school extends its warmest congratulations to Jake and his whānau on this meaningful achievement.

At the National Area Schools Conference in Wellington, Melissa Bell was invited to deliver a keynote presentation sharing the story behind our success in winning the National Excellence Award.

It was wonderful to see Melissa share our school’s journey with area schools from across the country. Her presentation brought our story to life, combining the detail of our experience with impressive data and valuable advice. The room was buzzing as everyone listened and celebrated the work that has led to our success.

Thank you Melissa!
