🚀✨ Our young explorers had an incredible visit to the “Infinite Impossibilities” exhibit at Te Atamira as part of our Galaxy learning journey!

From diving into the mysteries of the Milky Way to discovering stars, the Oort Cloud, and the fascinating world of black holes, students were fully immersed in hands-on, curiosity-driven learning. 🌌🪐⭐

Experiences like this help bring learning to life, sparking imagination, big questions, and a deeper understanding of the universe around us. 💫

Year 1–3 Homeschool Group: Interest Check (Queenstown)

We’re looking at opening a small Thursday morning group at The Academy for younger learners (Year 1–3), and would love to hear from families who might be interested.

This would be a 3-hour weekly session designed to complement your child’s homeschooling, with a focus on:

•Foundational maths and literacy
•Building confidence and independence
•Opportunities for social connection
•Gentle introduction to project-based learning and student-led inquiry

Our sessions are small and supportive, creating a calm and engaging environment where children can learn at their own pace while still feeling part of a group.

We currently have one student ready to start their Year 1 homeschool journey and are looking to see if there’s enough interest from other families to make this a regular group.

If this sounds like something that could work for your child, please comment below or send me a message to register your interest.

❄️ With the colder days approaching, we’re starting to prepare for our Winter Programme at The Academy.

If your child will be missing school for winter sports, if you're travelling from out of town, or you’d simply like to keep on top of things, we’ve got you covered.

Our programme is designed to support students in a way that works best for them. We can:
• Follow and support their current schoolwork and curriculum
• Or create a personalised programme using our own resources

With small groups, qualified teachers, and a warm, welcoming space, we help students build confidence and see real progress over the winter months.

Maths + ancient innovation in action this week ✨

Students measured real objects and calculated perimeter, even discovering the average cranium size of six people was 60cm - a great way to explore circumference in a hands-on way.

In Inventors & Innovators, they designed symbolic languages, created ancient-style counting systems to track food and stock, and explored how early communities communicated, warned of danger and told stories.

Creative, practical learning that brings maths and history to life.

Our holiday programme saw students step into the role of world-builders, engineers, scientists and storytellers as they designed their own fantasy countries from the ground up. From mountains, rivers and volcanoes to maps, labels and 3D models, creativity and problem-solving were everywhere.

As their worlds came to life, students invented plants and creatures uniquely adapted to their environments, thinking carefully about climate, survival, structure and movement. Along the way, they explained their ideas, shared their thinking, and proudly showcased their creations to the group.
