I did a thing. I wrote an opinion piece on the maternity transfer policy in Queenstown and thinking about how to plan for all the pathways that could occur.

This week I had a call from a good friend saying "help! I have a 5 min drive to my friend's house who's in labour, what can I do to support her?".

So this reel is inspired by that. A very quick snapshot of what I'd tell someone whose partner or friend is in labour and they're wanting to support. Obviously the specifics are SO unique to each birth and circumstances,

Some clarification on the new transfer policy from Queenstown. To be absolutely clear, you can still CHOOSE to birth in Invercargill. But the new policy means if you needed to transfer from Lakes or home, or before you'd gotten yourself to Invercargill or wherever you're birthing, you would be taken to Dunedin.

How does this new transfer policy sit with you?

A new transfer policy for those birthing in Queenstown that's super important to know! Now, *all* air and road transfers will be sent to Dunedin.

That's a big change and can affect what some people will choose when giving birth. Please talk to your midwife and consider all the scenarios that could occur.

Tell me what you're thinking and anything else I haven't mentioned here. Spread the word, it's so important everyone knows!
