Putāruru & Lichfield All Abilities Festival – Week 1!

What an awesome day of fun, movement and connection!

Today, a group of our tamariki headed out to Lichfield School, who hosted Week 1 of the Putāruru & Lichfield All Abilities Festival.

Our tamariki had the opportunity to give a range of adapted sports and activities a go, including:
Stick Ball – adapted football/hockey
Flyminton
Goalball
CoachMate Games – including Fish and Chips.
SNAG Golf
Boccia – including a fun game of tic-tac-toe!

It was wonderful to see our tamariki getting involved, trying new activities, encouraging one another and, most importantly, having lots of fun!

A huge thank you to Lichfield School for hosting us and creating such a welcoming day. We would also like to acknowledge the amazing Putāruru College tamariki who supported our students throughout the festival. Your encouragement, patience and enthusiasm helped make the day extra special.

We had such an amazing time and we can’t wait for Week 2 in a few weeks! :raised_hands:

🌿 Hauora Week – Looking After Our People

Kia ora e te whānau

This week is Hauora Week for our staff. We know that when our staff are well, our tamariki benefit too.

As part of the week, we are encouraging all staff to leave site by 3.30pm each day — giving them time to switch off, re-energise, spend time with their whānau, exercise, rest, or simply do something that fills their cup.

Our school day will continue as normal, and we appreciate your support as we take a little time this week to look after the people who give so much to our tamariki. 💚

🌼 Brightening up Friday for a great cause! 🌼

This Friday, August 28th, we're celebrating Daffodil Day! We invite everyone to wear their favorite yellow outfit and bring along a gold coin donation. Every dollar raised helps fund life-saving cancer research and care for patients.

Thank you for helping us support such an important cause! 💛

Kia ora e te whānau

A very special five days away 🥊🇳🇿

It was an absolute honour and privilege to represent NZ as a judge at the Queensland International Golden Gloves. Five full days of judging, learning, connecting and growing alongside some incredibly experienced officials.

As Principal, I’m very mindful that this opportunity meant time away from our kura. A heartfelt ngā mihi to our Board for approving my leave, and to our team for holding things strong while I was away. I truly appreciate that support. 🙏🏽

I return to school grateful, refreshed and with plenty of learning to bring back — proud to represent NZ, our school and our Putāruru community. ❤️🇳🇿

Ngā mihi nui
Tania Morrison
Principal 💙🙌🏽

🌟 Maths in action!

Our kaiako from Putāruru Primary and Te Waotu School came together for our third Ministry of Education Maths PLD — and this time we were diving into Probability, Statistics & Communication! 📊🎲💬

A huge ngā mihi to our awesome facilitator, Vince Wright, for another engaging and inspiring session! Your knowledge, energy and passion for maths made the day a real highlight.

Lots of learning, lots of kōrero, and plenty of mahi behind the scenes as we continue growing our maths kete!
