Today we used the buttermilk from the butter we made yesterday to make pikelets

Some of the science we have done this week, using lemons for power, blowing up balloons on a bottle, making rockets and making butter!

Friday’s science - Donna showed us how to make lemon volcano’s and how to poke a hole in a bag of water with a pencil and (mostly) didn’t let the water out.

This week we have started exploring science. Today we used red cabbage juice to see what colour it would change different liquids.

Our tamariki had such a wonderful morning at the Pukehina Marae. Thank you to all our Whanau that were able to come and help today. It was awesome to be able to relate our learning about the Maori Atua to the Marae.

What a busy week! We have made a waka and had fun pretending to row it, explored our new toys, learnt about life cycles of animals and bugs, built our pretend whare, dug up some potatoes, watched some men use the Taiaha and ended the week with some baking.

This week our tamariki have been learning about the Atua Tūmatauenga. We were lucky enough to see a Taiaha, use the Raku sticks, making masks of Tūmatauenga, making fish and walls of the Whare we made in the playground. Many people see Tūmatauenga as representing the part of us that is brave, determined, and willing to act. We incorporated this with a team building activity where the tamariki had to work together to not stand on the floor but move the squares.
