Wainui School

Wainui School This page is to keep the Wainui School community up to date with events happening at our school. Wainui School was established in 1879 .

The school is situated on 11 hectares of land, over half of which is still in dense regenerated bush with a small stream running through. The original school building is now housed in the Motat Museum. We are a full primary school enrolling children from Year 1 โ€“ 8.

๐Ÿง๐Ÿณ MAGIC IN THE KITCHEN! ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ

Our Garden to Table kitchen has been a hive of activity this week with some serious baking and special cooking sessions!

Here is what our talented young chefs have been up to:
๐Ÿง€ International Flavours: We cooked up a storm with our international students, making delicious green cheese fritters and homemade beetroot dip using fresh produce from the garden! We are going to miss these wonderful students so much when they leave next week. โค๏ธ๐ŸŒ
๐Ÿง Cupcake Marathon: A HUGE shout-out to our Year 6, 7, and 8 students who baked and iced a massive 279 cupcakes for Daffodil Day! That is some serious teamwork and dedication for a great cause! ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŽ‚

Our tamariki are learning so many amazing life skills in the kitchen, from measuring and knife skills to working together under pressure! ๐Ÿ‘โœจ

๐Ÿซ™ REMINDER: As we start prepping yummy preserves for Ag Day, we are still looking for clean, spare glass jars! Please drop any extras off at the school office or kitchen. Thank you! ๐Ÿ™

๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ”จ BUSY BEES IN THE GARDEN! ๐ŸŒฟโœจ

Our Garden to Table team has been hard at work outdoors, taking on some huge projects and making our garden beds thrive!

Hereโ€™s what our amazing tamariki have been up to:
๐ŸŒฑ Lush Growth: Weโ€™ve been weeding our garden beds and harvesting heaps of fresh, delicious greens for the kitchen. Everything is growing so fast!
๐ŸŒฟ Native Planting: A group spent time planting natives in the bush area, including the flaxes saved from the recent court clearing.
๐Ÿ”จ New Picket Fence! Our Year 7 & 8 group put real tools to work to build a new timber frame for the rock wall area. They recycled our brightly painted pickets from the old fence to secure the space - it adds so much fun colour to the garden! ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿงฑ

A massive shout-out to Jenni for her endless hard work keeping our garden and bush area looking incredible! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿซ™ COMMUNITY APPEAL: Weโ€™re starting to prep preserves for Ag Day over the coming weeks and are in desperate need of spare, clean glass jars! If you have any at home, please drop them into the school office or kitchen. Thank you! ๐Ÿ™

Stay tuned for our kitchen update coming soon! ๐Ÿฅ–๐Ÿง๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿฅถ THE ICY PLUNGE: Ready to brave the school pool?! Participation is totally optional, but anyone wanting to jump in just needs to bring their togs & towel and let their teacher or student leader know on the day! (Our littlest tamariki only need to dip their toes in! ๐Ÿฆถ๐Ÿ’ง)

๐Ÿ“ฃ CALLING ALL CRAFTERS, MAKERS & DECLUTTERERS! ๐Ÿ›๏ธโœจ

We are bringing those ultimate country-festival vibes to our Wainui School Ag Day & Gala 2026 on Saturday 31st October, and we want YOU to be a part of it! ๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿฎ

With hundreds of local families coming together from across Wainui and the Hibiscus Coast for a massive Saturday of animal judging, rides, games, and entertainment, itโ€™s the perfect high-traffic spot to showcase your products or clear out pre-loved goods!

We are looking for:

๐ŸŽจ Market Stalls ($50): Homemade goodness, handmade crafts, plants, artisan goods, local produce, art, and unique gifts!

๐Ÿงธ Second-Hand Stalls ($40): Held inside the school hall - ideal for clearing out pre-loved toys, clothes, books, and household treasures (just like a car boot sale, but indoors and dry!).

โš ๏ธ Please note: We are fully catered for food, so Wainui School will be running all food and treat stalls on the day. We are looking exclusively for classic market and second-hand merchandise stalls!

Spots are limited, so head over to our website to fill out the Market Stall Sign-Up form, and our team will be in touch!

๐Ÿ‘‰ Sign up here: www.wainui.school.nz

Tag a friend below who needs a stall or needs to clear out their shed! Letโ€™s make this market bustling, vibrant, and full of local talent! ๐Ÿ’›
