Kia ora e te whānau

We have our next working bee organised for SUNDAY 24th MAY.

We have decided that in winter months, to cater for winter Saturday sports, we will hold the Working Bee on Sundays. This means Term 2 & 3 will be Sundays and during the Summer months of Term 1 & 4 we will move back to Saturdays.

Please join us if you can:

Sunday 24th May
9am - 12.30pm
Lunch of a sausage sizzle will be served at 12.45pm with a few beverages for those that wish.

A few things that we intend to look at this working bee is:

Cleaning windows
Water blast deck
Massive clean out and tidy of the resource room
General weeding
Tidying in the plantation
Cutting of some branches around boundary
Possibly stumps
If there is anyone with access to a stump grinder please let me know.

Also, if you know anyone that does fencing I would love to know as there is a small space that needs to be fenced.

As you will have heard there is a NZEI Union strike day set for Thursday 23rd October. Due to limited staff we are unable to open safely and the Board of Trustees have decided we will close for the day. This means NO students or staff will be on site.

Although we are aware this is disruptive for our students and whānau, it is important for us to stand up for what we believe is crucial for the future of education.

The teaching profession is facing increasing complex needs with learners. Union members are passionate about the government hearing from us about what is critical in education. We need to attract and retain quality teachers but more importantly, we need to ensure our students are getting the support that is needed. Resourcing in classrooms is the main objective, including funded teacher aides, funded learning support coordinators and IN class support for additional learning needs.
