🌿 Plants Wanted for Our Fiesta Plant Stall! 🌸

We’re looking for donations of plants to help make our plant stall a blooming success! We would love:

🌱 Native plants
🍋 Fruit trees
🌸 Flowering plants
🪴 Unusual varieties
🌿 Herbs and vegetable seedlings
🌻 Seeds
🏺 Attractive pots and containers

If possible, please label any seeds, herbs or seedlings so we know what they are—this would be amazing!

Thank you for helping our plant stall grow! 💚🌱

❤❤❤TRIGGER WARNING - Some of these photos are not for the faint hearted (pun intended) ❤❤❤

This week Rangimārie have been exploring the anatomy of the heart, all thanks to the incredible resources provided in the House of Science kit.

As an exciting extension activity I thought it might be exciting to do a dissection of a real heart. ❤

This is where our incredible whānau leapt into action!
Within 12 hours Emma Coppins had sourced fresh sheep hearts. and Colleen Brophy Buenz let us borrow some dissection equipment.
Then Eric offered to jump into class today to help us navigate our way around the cutting, chopping, and exploration of the anatomy.

❤It was awesome!❤

Thank you whānau for jumping onboard and helping me make these crazy ideas become a reality for Rangimārie.

It’s been a busy week at SPC, and we’re excited to finish it by showing our support for people in our community who are affected by cancer 🌼

Remember to wear a splash of yellow and bring along a koha to support Daffodil Day.

A special thank you to Aaliyah, Marlee, Maya, Sophie, Cooper, Nikhil, Sonny and Rykerr who joined an amazing group of local volunteers to deliver and sell daffodils to businesses throughout our community this week. We are so proud of the kindness, confidence and understanding they showed 💛

Together, we can show people affected by cancer that we care and that they are not alone 🌼

A huge thank you to past SPC student Emma-Jo from Brain Injury Top of the South for visiting us yesterday!
We loved learning about our amazing brains, why they are so important and the things we can do to help keep them safe.
It was really great to see Emma-Jo, learn lots from her and hear about her time at SPC- we look forward to seeing you again 🧠

Rangatahi Leadership Programme

Session 2 today with Matua Sean and Matua Thomas.

Our tamakiki continued learning some basic mau rakau moves and the haka 'Ka Horo te Pā?'

They are learning through a teaching style called 'Mahi-ako-tere' or accelerated learning through taringa whakarongo - titiro, observation and panui pepa.

Ngā mihi Sean Delany for providing this opportunity for our kura and tamariki.

Today Rangimārie celebrated our class members who have Filipino achestry by creating traditional Filipino Christmas star decorations called a parol.

They symbolise the Star of Bethlehem and represent hope, shared faith, and light during the holiday season.

Holiday Season? I know, it’s only September!

But did you know that in the Philippines Christmas decorations start going up in September and stay up in homes until January? How cool is that!

Thank you Rykerr, Sophie, Willow-Fe and Euriiyah for sharing this beautiful tradition with us!
