🔈 🙋‍♀️Have your say! Oppose funding cuts for Kindergartens by 6 August, 5pm.

A government appointed funding review suggests less money for kindergartens and more taxpayer money going to private profit-oriented services.

This would mean Kindergartens will be forced to charge more, and some children will miss out completely on early childhood education.

🗓️ Have your say by making a submission before 6 August, when the consultation closes.

Your submissions can simply be describing what effect the rising cost of Kindergartens would have on you and your whānau. Link to submit in the comments below!

Another busy day with Martin the toymaker.co.nz, as the tamariki worked on a project to create a puppet show frame and puppets. It was great to see their enthusiasm to learn, explore, and participate in the workshop.

There was lots of learning happening throughout the experience as tamariki designed and created puppets, worked together, waited patiently for their turns, and listened to and followed instructions.
After completing the first part of the project, the tamariki really enjoyed using the puppet show frame in their imaginative play. Some turned it into a television show, while others used it as a shop during their role play. It was lovely to see them extending their learning through creativity, storytelling, and imaginative play, showing how meaningful and engaging the experience for them.

A few snapshots from our excursion to Pātaka Art & Museum and Kindy Gym at Te Rauparaha Arena. The tamariki had so much fun exploring Pātaka, where we spent time in the children’s interactive gallery space before walking over to Kindy Gym.

At Kindy Gym, the tamariki enjoyed making the most of the experience by exploring, challenging themselves, developing their gross motor skills and balance, and most importantly, having lots of fun together.

"Pink Shirt Day":- Speak Up, Stand Together, Stop Bullying!

This week we have been focusing on "Pink Shirt Day", standing together against bullying and promoting a culture of kindness, inclusion, and respect for others. Our tamariki have been busy creating a beautiful pink tree display called “Tree of Kindness.” The purpose of this tree is to celebrate and acknowledge acts of kindness, respect, and the many ways tamariki help to uplift and raise the mana of others. As tamariki show these positive behaviours, their photos will be added to the tree to recognize and celebrate their contributions to fostering a caring and inclusive kindergarten environment.

A special thank you to Hemi and the team at Summer Snow Ice Cream for generously providing free ice cream for all our tamariki and kaiako. What a wonderful way to end our Pink Shirt Week celebrations with such a thoughtful act of kindness.

"Our Power, Our Planet"
This week, we celebrated Earth Day at Moira Gallagher kindergarten through kōrero and shared learning about the planet we live on "Earth" and how we can care for it. We explored the idea that we all have the power to help our planet.

Rosie and the tamariki took action by replanting seeds from our swamp plants and working together to keep our kindergarten environment clean by picking up rubbish. It was great to see tamariki contributing and taking responsibility for looking after our environment.
