Paremata Playcentre provides a rich environment that is fun, safe and stimulating, where friends and whanau share their values and energy as they play and learn alongside their own and others’ children. Paremata Playcentre is situated at Ngati Toa Domain, nestled between the sea and park with a great view of trains racing past. Many families come from the local area as well as Porirua, Whitby, Pau

We're so excited to welcome both familiar and new faces to Paremata Playcentre this term!

Our play spaces have had a fresh new look, with a fun focus on under the sea, the water cycle, and the changing seasons. There'll be plenty of opportunities for hands-on play, creativity, exploration, and learning together.

✨ Mānawatia a Matariki! ✨

What a wonderful day celebrating Matariki together as our Paremata Playcentre whānau. 💙

Our tamariki created sparkling Matariki stars, shared kai, enjoyed a beach adventure, toasted marshmallows, and planted a memorial tree to honour a much-loved member of our Playcentre community. 🌟🌱🔥

Matariki is a time to remember those we've lost, celebrate the present, and look ahead with hope. It reminds us that the strongest communities are built by spending time together, caring for one another, and creating memories that last a lifetime.

At Playcentre, that's exactly what we do. Our tamariki learn through play while families build friendships, support each other, and become part of a truly special village. ❤️

Wondering what to do during the wet and windy Wellington winter? 🌧️💨

Come join us at Paremata Playcentre!

Our covered play spaces are getting a real workout today — and the fun doesn’t stop when it rains. This morning our tamariki have been busy brewing magical potions to bring back the SUN ☀️🧪✨
This kind of play is more than just fun — it’s great for:

Imagination and creativity (mixing, pretending, storytelling)
Confidence and independence (leading their own ideas)
Social skills (working alongside and sharing with others)
Early science learning (experimenting, observing, exploring cause and effect)

Just as importantly, it’s a warm and welcoming space for whānau to connect, have a cuppa, and ride out the wild Wellington weather together ☕💛

Our Friday session tamariki had lots of questions about the delicious smell of the cocoa husks they were playing with....
Why does it smell so yum?
What are these crunchy things?
Can I smell chocolate?
Where do these come from?

So we extended their play and used some cocoa to bake a chocolate cake! The tamariki took turns carefully measuring and mixing. Then everyone enjoyed a yummy treat with their lunch! 🍫🍰👨🏼‍🍳👩🏾‍🍳
