🌺 A BEAUTIFUL WEEK OF LANGUAGE, CULTURE & CELEBRATION AT TORU FETU 🌺

It may have been a couple of weeks since Te Epetoma o te Reo Māori Kuki Airani – Cook Islands Language Week and Te Kiwa Nui, but our hearts are still so full as we reflect on what was such a beautiful and memorable time for our Toru Fetu family. ❤️

We want to acknowledge our amazing children, teachers and families for all the commitment, time, patience and support that went into making these celebrations so special.

To our beautiful tamariki who represented Toru Fetu on the Te Kiwa Nui stage — we are incredibly proud of you! 🌟 To stand on such a big stage takes courage and bravery, and you represented not only yourselves, but your friends, your families, your teachers and our whole Toru Fetu village with so much pride. You were our little stars shining brightly! ✨

And to our tamariki who may not have had the opportunity to be on the stage this year — you were just as much a part of our journey. ❤️ You practised alongside us, learnt the songs and dances, encouraged your friends and shared in our excitement. Your opportunity will come again, and we cannot wait to see more of our little stars take the stage next time. 🌟

Alongside Te Kiwa Nui, we were also celebrating Cook Islands Language Week, filling our kindergarten with our reo, songs, dance, stories, culture and the beautiful values of our Cook Islands people. 🇨🇰🌺

And what better way to finish such a busy week than with our very special Vouvou Day – Grandparents Day. ❤️

Amongst all the busyness, practices, preparations and organised chaos 😂, Vouvou Day gave us a beautiful moment to slow down and spend precious time with our grandparents and elders. Our Vouvou are our holders of knowledge, language, stories, culture and love, and having them with us made our celebrations even more meaningful.

It was also such a special opportunity for our tamariki to showcase to their Vouvou and families some of what they had proudly shared on the Te Kiwa Nui stage. 🥹❤️

What a beautiful week it was — celebrating our language, our culture, our children, our families and our Vouvou.

At Toru Fetu, these moments remind us that our children do not stand alone. Behind every child is a family, a teacher, a Vouvou, a community and a village cheering them on. 🌺

Meitaki ma’ata to everyone who helped make these celebrations possible. Most of all, meitaki ma’ata to our beautiful tamariki — you represented Toru Fetu with courage, joy and pride, and we could not be prouder of you all. ❤️🌟

Kia vai māro’iro’i tō tātou reo, peu e te akono’anga — may our language, culture and traditions continue to live strongly through our tamariki and generations to come. 🇨🇰❤️

Toru Fetu — our little stars, shining together. ✨🌺

Kia orana e te whānau ❤️

Today our hearts are so full.

A huge meitaki ma’ata to all of our amazing parents, teachers, and community whānau who came together for our working bee at Toru Fetu Kindergarten. What a beautiful reflection of what our village looks like when we stand together in service for our tamariki.

From filling our sand pit to replacing our bark areas, and cleaning up— every act of love did not go unnoticed. You gave your time, your energy, and your hands to a space that holds the dreams, laughter, and learning of our children each and every day.

Toru Fetu is more than just a kindergarten… it is a home, a place of belonging, a place where identity, culture, and love are nurtured. And today, you showed us that this space truly belongs to all of us.

As it says in Galatians 6:9 — “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
Today was a glimpse of that harvest — a community united in purpose and love.

From our hearts to yours, thank you for showing up, for giving, and for loving our space the way you do.

With gratitude always,
Meitaki maata, Fakaaue lahi, Fakafetai lasi🙏
