The Animal Ring is back for Lamb & Calf Day 2026, and entries are now open! 🏆

Children from across the Wellington region are welcome to enter and showcase their hand-raised lambs and calves in the Animal Ring. It’s a fantastic opportunity for young animal handlers to get involved, learn new skills and enjoy the excitement of the show ring.

There are ribbons and prizes to be won, including the coveted Best in Show awards. So, get your lambs and calves ready and start preparing for the big day!

🐑 Meet Emily & Harriet! 🤍

Lambing season is underway around the region, and we’re starting to see plenty of these little bundles of wool arriving!

Today we’re introducing Emily and her lamb, Harriet 🐑💕 We love seeing the special bonds that develop between children and their animals — and we’re looking forward to seeing lots more of them at Lamb & Calf Day 2026!

Did you know?
🐑 Ewes carry their lambs for around 5 months.
🐑 Newborn lambs can be up and walking surprisingly soon after birth.
🐑 Lambs recognise their mum by her voice and smell — pretty clever for something so little!

As the lambs start arriving, we’re getting excited for:

Please note that Lamb & Calf Day 2026 will now be held on:

Lamb & Calf Day is always a fantastic day out for the whole community. Come along and enjoy a fun-filled day with animals to see, games for the kids, digger rides, delicious food, craft stalls, and plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy.

It’s a great chance to support our school, spend time with friends and family, and enjoy a lively community event.
