Sensory chia seed exploration - try this fun activity with your little ones to help them with their motor skills development, language and cognitive development, crossing the midline and assisting them to adapt in new situations.
They begin to learn that they can use sensory play resources in a variety of ways and differentiate between different scenarios through discovery.

We added water to the chia seeds to create a jelly consistency and then flaxseed at the end to change the texture.

LETTER MATCHING

Find their interests and provide the resources to fulfil those needs.

A simple painting of a cupcake providing some skills for the children.

When the girls can match upper case letters we’ll write those on the pebbles.

CHRISTMAS FIZZY PLAY

Fizzy play never gets old for us, the children love the experience of the reaction the vinegar has on the baking soda.

To make them I used 1/2 cup of baking soda mixed with 1/2 teaspoon of gelatine (not necessary but holds easier) and 30ml water with your choice of food colouring. Mix together and put into mold or ice tray to set.

The children enjoy working with the dropper bottles and are working on their practical life skills too.

Carter wasn’t phased but as soon as the vinegar was done the girls couldn’t resist putting their hands in.

ROCKET CAN BAKE

Rocket left ingredients for the children to make their own cookies today.

They all took turns with the steps to form the dough and enjoyed snacking on one during tea time.

ROCKET IS BACK

Rocket is back and is ready for a whole lot of holiday fun during the festive season.

The children were all mesmerised by his arrival and got stuck into their Christmas cards right away.

CHRISTMAS

I set up this Christmas small world for the children to explore with and act out scenarios.

Carter and Bella are seeing how differently Alessia and Zoe work with the items in the tray while they explore in ways to fulfil their own needs.

Alessia and Zoe have the sweetest way of communicating while they play and they’re always exploring these small world trays differently as they grow and develop.

RAINBOW WATER PLAY

The benefits of water play are endless! If you make the set up inviting and give them the right items to explore with you’ll see them engaged in their play.

They’re learning simple concepts such as to lift and pour without spilling, controlling water by measuring, develop hand eye coordination, gross and fine motor skills.

They’re learning to problem solve and learning to work alongside each other and to take turns.

The children had heaps of fun exploring with all the colours.
