🌸 Spring has officially sprung at Playcentre! ☀️

What a beautiful, warm week — and with sunshine like that, there is no keeping anyone inside! We’ve been busy in the sandpit, working with water, tending our garden, washing trucks, racing cars, spraying paint, making Father’s Day cards, and swatting balloons.

We’ve celebrated some special tamariki birthdays 🎂 Hari Huritau Carson and Charlie! and watched with great excitement as the fire brigade headed out on a call! 🚒

The place is humming ✨ 🌱🌼 how lucky are we!

☀️➡️🌧️ What a week at Playcentre!

We started in T-shirts, basking in the sunshine and cooling off with water play in the sandpit. By the end of the week it was nearly 20 degrees cooler — but the fun didn’t stop! T-shirts and barefeet became raincoats and gumboots, with puddles, mud and plenty of outdoor adventures.

And when we headed inside? Ice, paint, trains, blocks, tents, bonfires, collage, play dough - and even a thrilling storytelling session with a very special guest! 📖✨

Whatever the weather, there’s always plenty of play at Playcentre! ❤️

🐻 And Bear Hunt We Did! 🐻

Building on the tamariki’s interest in suspense, bear stories and imaginary play, we set off on our very own bear hunt yesterday..

Tamariki and kaiako alike sneakily followed the trail, tip-toeing, squelching, swishing and swashing as we wondered what we might find at the end… 👀

And the imaginary play continued long after those pesky bears were discovered in their cave! Such a successful and fun session 🐻✨

Come along and join us on any of the three days, 9am–12.30pm — everyone is welcome! And costumes are very much encouraged (and celebrated! 🎭), for tamariki AND adults!

A busy and fun-filled week at Playcentre! 💛 Lots of exploring, creating and connecting, with tamariki building relationships and getting comfortable playing and learning together. And two birthdays! Hari huritau ki a George raua ko Hudson 🎂 🎈

We’re finding our rhythm with group supervision — giving tamariki plenty of space to lead their own play while we keep a watchful eye 👀✨ come visit and enjoy the magic!
