Matariki at Waikawa Marae

Waikawa Marae is hosting a Matariki celebration from 2.00pm–5.00pm on Sunday 26th July, and we have been invited to join Waitohi Kindergarten to perform some waiata.

If you and your whānau would like to join us, please arrive by 2.30pm, as our performance will begin at 2.45pm.

If you think you'll be attending, could you please let one of the kaiako know? This will help us make sure we bring enough centre T-shirts for everyone performing.

We'd love to see lots of our tamariki and whānau there as we celebrate Matariki together!

🌟 Matariki Whānau Get-Together – Wednesday 8th July,4 - 5.30 pm🌟

We warmly invite our whānau to join us on Wednesday, 8th July, for a special Matariki get-together at our centre.

This will be an opportunity to come and view the learning experiences tamariki have been involved in, including their recent learning around emergencies and emergency preparedness.

4.45pm – Tamariki who are present will share a short Matariki waiata performance.

Please bring along a cup for soup – we will be providing soup and bread to share together.

We will also be sending home each child’s Emergency “Go Bag”, which includes items tamariki can use and be familiar with in the event of an emergency.

We look forward to celebrating Matariki together, sharing kai, and reflecting on the learning journey of our tamariki.

A big thank you to Envirohub for generously donating a Bokashi compost unit to our centre.

The tamariki will be learning about how the system works and helping to collect and compost our leftover kai. We are excited to use the compost to support our garden and continue caring for our environment.

We appreciate Envirohub’s support in helping our tamariki connect with concepts of kaitiakitanga and sustainability through real-life experiences.

Ngā mihi nui, Envirohub, for your kindness and support!
