Waitaria Bay School is a decile 6 primary school catering to years 1-8. Despite the school's remote location, it endeavours to get the children involved in as many different activities as possible, including participating with the other Pelorus cluster schools for events like winter sports, athletics, cross country, swimming, and the annual speech competition. They also travel out to town for even

ts like the Science Fair. Being in the Sounds means many unique opportunities for education, such as the Kereru Kitchen - an area across the road from school which, with the help of local residents, parents and teachers, the children are landscaping and planting with native trees and plants.

Last week, we tested our carefully constructed Great Egg Drop equipment. It was a fun experience as we dropped the eggs from various heights, including a tree, the bank, and over the goalpost. We had a great time, learnt a lot, and we managed to save some of the eggs!
