It is an annual tradition at Morrinsville Kids to hold a wheel-a-thon to raise money for our local volunteer Fire Brigade. This year we raised $2642.00! An enormous thank you to our centre whaanau who supported and sponsored this event, and to our local fire fighters who gave up their morning to visit the centre and share their fire engine with us 🥰

Today was all about celebrating kindness at Morrinsville Kids. We spoke about what being a good friend looks like, and how we can be kind to each other … the centre was filled with the colour pink, kindness, and lots of smiles 🩷
This morning our curious toddlers led the way in creating their own “gloop” sensory play! After requesting this favourite messy mix, the tamariki measured and mixed cornflour and water, and also chose the colours to mix together. Our kaiako supported their choices as little hands explored texture, movement, and imagination.
Using spoons added an extra layer of learning, by building fine motor and spoon control skills through play. Gloop is just one of the many sensory-rich experiences within our programme, alongside slime, foam, playdough, and much more. These fun sensory activities help our tamariki to explore, experiment, and discover through hands-on learning.

In te ruma Kiwi (our space for our youngest tamariki), we follow a natural development philosophy where we encourage and support infants and toddlers to try things for themselves, make movements, and achieve physical milestones in their own space and time. We live by our philosophy that whanaungatanga (relationships) are the foundation for all learning. Having strong relationships as a foundation for care, means children feel encouraged and supported by kaiako as they actively explore and engage in play experiences. Recently we had our annual Christmas party 2025 - we were grateful for a bright and sunny day for the occasion. ☀️

Wheel-a-thon 2025 was a success. We raised $3050 for our wonderful volunteer fire brigade. Thank you to all our wonderful family and friends of MKids for all your donations. The fire truck visit today was amazing.
