Petone Kindergarten

We are excited to have six new chicks at Kindergarten to care for! They are Hyline hens, they stay in the brooder for the first six weeks so they can keep warm under the heat pad while they grow their feathers. What a wonderful learning opportunity for all of us as we care for them as Kaitiaki as they grow.

Exploring creativity in different ways is an important part of our daily programme at Petone Kindergarten. Here we are having a go at drawing with paint pens on stones found at the local beach.

A big thank you to Oscar (Hazel's dad) and Bradley for building us a big chicken coop enclosure for our future Kindy Free-range Chickens 🤣🤣🤣

A big ngā Mihi to our wonderful whānau and their tamariki as well as the Kaiako who have kindly donated their time last Saturday for our Working bee event. What an amazing turn out! So much mahi was done ranging from weeding to building a new chicken enclosure for our future chickens! Whoop whoop!

Today was such a fun Easter celebration at Petone Kindergarten. Tamariki got creative making hot cross buns with clay and sticks. At kotahitanga time we sang “Hot Cross Buns” together. They loved decorating their own Easter bunnies and eggs and matching carrots and eggs on the light table. In the afternoon tamariki worked together to rescue animals from colourful frozen ice. We ended the day with a special visit from the Easter Bunny and an outdoor egg hunt with yummy chocolate treats. A beautiful day of learning, reflecting Te Whāriki Whakamana as tamariki led their play with confidence and creativity. Happy Easter! 🐰🐣
