🌿🐾 A Day of Kindness and Learning 🐾🌿
We had a special visit from the SPCA today, where tamariki learnt about caring for animals with kindness and respect, strengthening our shared understanding of manaakitanga. This connected beautifully with our new up-close experiences with our guinea pigs, Moose and Boots 🐹🐹, as children practised gentle, respectful interactions.
Through these experiences, children are developing confidence and empathy in caring relationships with people, places, and things -reflecting Te Whāriki Outcome: Contribution/Mana Tangata, where learners see themselves as capable members who care for others. 💛
If you’d like to see more about what happens at Petone Beach, feel free to enquire about a visit or join our waiting list.

Kia ora Petone Beach Kindergarten whānau,

Due to the Wellington State of Emergency and severe weather warnings for our region, Petone Beach Kindergarten will be closed tomorrow.

This decision has been made to keep our tamariki, whānau, and teaching team safe, as significant coastal swell, high tides, and potential road damage may impact safe travel and our kindergarten environment during operating hours.

We understand this may be inconvenient and appreciate your understanding as we put safety first.

We will keep you updated throughout the day via Storypark and will share any information about Wednesday's opening as soon as decisions have been made.

Please stay safe and take care.

Ngā mihi,
The Petone Beach Kindergarten Team

At Petone Beach Kindergarten, our tamariki enjoy a rich and diverse curriculum that nurtures their curiosity, creativity, and sense of belonging ❤️
From developing numeracy skills through hands-on experiences, to caring for our much-loved guinea pigs and learning about empathy and responsibility, there are so many meaningful opportunities for learning every day. 🐹🔢
Our children also explore te ao Māori through creative expression-like making tiki through art-helping them build an appreciation for culture, identity, and storytelling. 🎨🗿
Most importantly, we prioritise building strong, respectful relationships, supporting each child to feel confident, connected, and valued within our kindergarten whānau. 🤝💛
All of this is guided by our 100% qualified teaching team, who are passionate about supporting each child’s unique learning journey. 🌟
We are so proud of the vibrant learning happening here every day! 🌊🌈

🌿✨ Our New Resource: The ChompSaw ✨🌿
We’ve been exploring a new tool in our space – the ChompSaw 🛠️
It allows tamariki to safely cut materials like cardboard, supporting their creativity as they plan, design, and make their own creations.
Through this experience, children are experimenting and problem-solving as their ideas come to life, while also working alongside others-sharing, taking turns, and supporting each other in their projects.
It’s been wonderful to see their confidence and collaboration grow as they create together 💛

Woodworking workshop

It was great to have Martin from 'Toymaker' join us at Kindergarten for a woodworking workshop yesterday. Together we made a set of wooden cameras that we can use in our play at Kindy. Tamariki drilled holes, sanded the wood and glued the parts together with Martin’s guidance, along with lots of practicing using the hand drills, measuring tapes and screwdrivers. It is a great way to build on our woodworking skills and will inspire further creative construction at Kindergarten.
