We got off to a wonderful start celebrating Te Wiki o te Reo Māori this week with a special waiata and music session led by Jhan, mum of Madi and Monte.

At Petone Beach Kindergarten, we value opportunities to weave te reo Māori into our everyday programme, fostering a sense of belonging and appreciation for Aotearoa New Zealand's unique bicultural heritage.

A huge thank you to Jhan for sharing her time, musical talents, and love of waiata with our learning community. 💛

Using our new air-dry clay, tamariki have been busy turning their ideas into amazing creations while developing fine motor skills, confidence, and problem-solving strategies.

Behind experiences like these is the knowledge and expertise of our 100% qualified kaiako, who intentionally support and extend children's learning every day.

Garden to Plate at Petone Beach Kindergarten

Our lemon tree is certainly keeping us busy! With lemons in abundance, tamariki enjoyed turning our harvest into homemade lemon cordial and a delicious banana cake topped with fresh lemon icing. A perfect winter treat enjoyed together around the table.

We're also excited to share that our beautiful new indoor table, benches, and stools have arrived! This special addition will replace our kai mat, creating a welcoming space where everyone can sit and enjoy kai together.

A huge thank you to one of our amazing whānau who made this possible by successfully applying for a grant on behalf of the kindergarten.

It's a wonderful reminder that when whānau and kindergarten work together, great things happen for our tamariki.

Together we are stronger.
