🎨💙 Our little artists have been busy creating something special for Father’s Day! Our tamariki painted their very own “ #1 Dad” can coolers using a fun tape-resist technique. Once the paint was dry, we peeled away the tape to reveal their special designs — ready to be gifted to their dads! 🥰

We hope all our amazing dads enjoyed their special handmade gifts! 💙

This week, our Pōhutukawa tamariki have been learning about patterns and how to recognise, create and continue different sequences.

Today, we explored patterns using our teddy bear counters! 🧸 The tamariki enjoyed creating colourful sequences and working out what came next.

Through this hands-on experience, they are developing early mathematical thinking, problem-solving skills and confidence as capable learners

Daffodil Day! 💛🌼

On Friday 28th August our Rūma Kauri tamariki alongside some of their peers across Mudpies and Butterflies came dressed in yellow to support Daffodil Day and the Cancer Society! We loved creating daffodil art pieces to fill our room and celebrating together in our bright yellow outfits 💛🐥🍋

Of course, we finished with some delicious yellow cupcakes from our amazing cook Roxanne! 🧁💛

Together, Mudpies and Butterflies raised $125 for the Cancer Society! 🌼

On Friday 21st August we had a teddy bear picnic here at Mudpies and Butterflies. Everyone brought in there special teddy bears for the picnic. For lunch the tamariki enjoyed their pizza outside on a picnic blanket. Then for afternoon tea they got a cookie shaped like a little teddy b**r. Everyone loved being able to show their friends what teddy they had brought in to share 🧸🧺

Our tamariki have been celebrating Tongan Language Week through creative experiences, painting Tongan flags and creating beautiful artwork 🎨
We were also lucky to have one of our Tongan kaiako share a little piece of home by bringing in traditional fans, kato (woven bag) and tupenu (wrapped garment) from Tonga 🇹🇴🌴

It has been a lovely opportunity for our tamariki to be introduced to and surrounded by Tongan language, culture and traditions. 💕

Today, Rūma Kauri, Rimu and Pōhutukawa travelled to the Waiuku Theatre to see their latest pantomime, Twisted Tales!
The tamariki had such a wonderful time on our adventure, travelling together to the theatre by bus and sitting beautifully throughout the show. We loved experiencing storytelling brought to life through drama, music, costumes and performance 📖🎭
It was also a wonderful opportunity for our tamariki to get out into the community while sharing a special outing with friends from across our centre 🚌💛

Our tamariki are loving being able to explore their wellbeing through movement, pretend play, looking after each other, and developing knowledge around their emotional wellbeing. The toddlers within Ruma Rimu are loving exploring all the different activities and things we have out for them to play with. By nurturing the wellbeing of all tamariki we are able to play, learn, connect and grow together. 🌈✨
