We have started out 2025 with fun, laughter, collaboration and curiosity! Our tamariki are practising manaakitanga and kaitiakitanga and continue to learn about our kindy values.

We have been enjoying fun in the sun, playing in the natural gardens where the Tui and Kereru sing as we play.

Recently we have had a few of our tamariki head off to school which means that we have a small number of spaces available for 2-5 year old's.

The sun has been shining and our tamariki have been exploring so independently in the sandpit and in the lazy river. With the guidance of their kaiako, our younger tamariki have been showing our older tamariki the rules and how to care for the equipment and together they have all enjoyed themselves for long uninterrupted periods of time. These children can learn in their own time and in their own space.

If you would like your child to join us, we have limited spaces available now that some of our older tamariki have moved on to kura. Over the last couple of months we have been collecting food items for the Kapiti Foodbank. Over two weeks, we delivered our donations which incorporated generous donations made by local businesses - AD architecture, Leith Consulting and Landmatters. As part of our donation, we took the children to the supermarket so they could choose fresh fruit and vegetables, this was a very thought provoking process for them.

The Foodbank were so grateful and we were delighted that our second delivery was well timed and followed the Foodbank's unfortunate robbery. Our tamariki learned so much and were very excited to be giving to people. Kerry Lovell at the Foodbank was so lovely and showed us around and introduced us to some of the amazing volunteers who give their time to help. What an amazing group of people.

This has truly filled our hearts with joy and showed just how important community spirit is, even to people you don't know. Our
Grafton Kindergarten tamariki have been able to develop a sense of themselves as global citizens and have made a difference to peoples lives, we are so proud of them.

THANK YOU!

To our parents and to several local businesses who have got totally involved in our SPCA & KAPITI Foodbank Appeal we are extremely grateful and humbled!

Anke and the team from AD architecture, Monique, Josh & Anaru from Leith Consulting, Alice & Sam from Landmatters and Anna & Mat from Mat P Dental have all jumped on board and made sizeable donations to support our cause. WE CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH!

We know that the Kapiti Foodbank and the SPCA are delighted and very grateful with the results and our community support.

Next week will be the start of our Kiwiana Adventures for 2021.

In late February we are planning a trip to the SPCA followed by a trip in late March to the Kapiti Food Bank.

As part of these two trips, we would like to make donations to the SPCA and the Kapiti Food Bank.

Over the next few weeks if at all possible, we would be very grateful if you could take your children shopping to purchase 1 or 2 grocery items or pet food that we can donate during our visits. In addition to food products, if you have any old towels or blankets that you would like to donate that would also be greatly appreciated. If you are no longer attending Grafton, or would just like to be involved in supporting our local community, we would welcome any contributions to be delivered to Grafton Private Kindergarten, 160 Arawhata Road, Paraparaumu.

After speaking with the food bank we are informed that a lot of families are living on $20 to $50 a week. They have given us some items that they would of high need to families in the area:

-Cleaning products
-Personal toiletries, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste etc
-nuts, raisins, muesli bars
-noodles
-spagetti
-baked beans
