✈️ Our Young Eagles recently visited Airport Equipment in Wellington to see what goes on behind the scenes in designing and building airbridges for airports.

Did you know that airbridges used at airports across Australia and New Zealand are built right here in Wellington? 🇳🇿 The team at Airport Equipment have designed an automated docking system for airbridges, which the Young Eagles got to see in action during their visit.

The group were shown around the facility and got to see the engineering, technology and work that goes into building these systems. It was a pretty cool look at an area of the aviation industry that most people probably don’t think much about when they walk through an airport.

A big thank you to the team at Airport Equipment for having us along and showing us around!

On Sunday, we had four aircraft head up to Palmerston North Airport with our Young Eagles for a behind the scenes look at the aviation industry and some of the different pathways available.

The group visited the Palmerston North Airport Fire Rescue team, learning about the important role they play in keeping airports safe and getting a closer look at the equipment and vehicles they use. We also visited the Massey University School of Aviation, where the team showed us around their impressive facilities, including their DA-42 simulator and training environments.

It was a great opportunity for our Young Eagles to see what a future in flight training could look like for them.

A huge thank you to the Palmerston North Airport Fire Rescue team and Massey School of Aviation for taking the time to show us around and share their knowledge with the group.
