Our pēpi have been enjoying getting messy, exploring different textures, sensations and materials through play. These experiences support curiosity, sensory development, coordination and a growing sense of confidence and agency.

This learning links beautifully to Te Whāriki – Mana Aotūroa | Exploration, as our pēpi are encouraged to explore, discover, experiment and make sense of the world around them through hands-on experiences.

What an exciting week we’ve had here at Little Waves!

Book Week has been a massive hit, filled with lots of stories, imagination, creativity and plenty of fun!

And what fun we had for our Dress-Up Day! We loved seeing everyone getting into the spirit and bringing their favourite characters to life!
A huge thank you to our wonderful tamariki, whānau and kaiako for making the week so special.

We can’t wait to see what fun our next themed week brings!

At Little Waves, we believe some of the best learning happens when tamariki are free to explore, create, and get a little messy.

Our outdoor environment is thoughtfully filled with open-ended provocations and sensory experiences that invite tamariki to investigate, problem-solve, imagine, and discover at their own pace.

Pizza making was a massive hit with our Preschool tamariki today!

It was wonderful watching tamariki work through each step as they created their very own pizzas. There was so much great kōrero throughout the activity, with tamariki sharing their techniques for spreading the tomato paste, chatting about their favourite toppings, and, of course, agreeing that you can never have too much cheese!

Practical learning experiences like baking are a fantastic way to build independence, develop fine motor skills, strengthen communication, and encourage problem-solving—all while having lots of fun.

We can't wait to continue providing more hands-on learning opportunities like this for our tamariki.

Nothing beats a day on wheels with friends! 🚲

Today was filled with smiles, laughter, and plenty of biking fun as our tamariki shared the joy of Wheels Day together. It was wonderful to see them encouraging one another, taking turns, building confidence, and creating special memories through play.

These moments of shared adventure help strengthen friendships, develop social skills, and foster a love of active outdoor play. What a fantastic day!

Whether they're climbing, creating, exploring, building friendships, or letting their imaginations run wild, every moment is filled with valuable learning.

Through child-led play, tamariki develop confidence, problem-solving skills, resilience, communication, and a deep connection with the world around them.

At Little Waves, we believe some of the richest learning happens when children are given the time, space, and freedom to follow their own ideas. It's wonderful to see the joy, creativity, and curiosity that naturally unfolds as they explore together.

We love it when our tamariki come in with their own special song requests! 💛
Our kaiako are quickly becoming professional DJs, making sure everyone's favourite tunes get their turn. There's something so special about hearing the songs our tamariki love at home and watching them proudly share them with their friends.

Music is a wonderful way to build connections, celebrate each child's unique interests, and bring joy to our day. 🎶✨
