Followed closely by a growing army of Dancers and Supporters, Salsa Sunday at Loco has now become an INSTITUTION:

⭐Meet BERTA⭐

Berta is from Santiago, Chile, and dancing has always been part of her life.

She first started dancing Reggaeton and Hip-Hop as an amateur, then when she moved to Christchurch she took dancing to the next level.
She joined a dance group called Rebel Roots in 2018 and competed with them, winning 1st place in the NZ Latin Dance Championships and South Island Latin Dance Competition in 2022.
This is also when Berta started to teach: mainly Reggaeton but also Hip-Hop and Dancehall.

In 2024, Berta moved to Whangarei and joined Las Chicas crew, with whom she will be performing and competing.

I met Berta here in Whangarei, on the social dance-floor. I couldn’t help noticing not only her amazing body movements and dance moves, but also her energy: I was drawn to her.
Her smile, her passionate way of interacting with the music, her presence…I just loved it!

I thought I would like to learn from her, and lucky me/us, she is going to start teaching Reggaeton with Latin Beatz on Sunday 21rst of April!! 🔥

What Berta loves about Reggaeton is that it incorporates various dance styles including hip hop, salsa, and dancehall.

For Berta, it’s important that all her students feel comfortable, empowered, and have fun while learning.

In Berta’s class you’ll learn the basics of Reggaeton, covering foundations such as Body Isolations, Basic steps, Hip and B***y movements Reggaeton is so famous for. You will also learn a short Routine!!

Sometimes called Latin Hip Hop, Reggaeton is known for its ENERGETIC beat, smooth and sensual moves. This dance style is all about getting loose, having FUN and feeling the music in your body.

Reggaeton dance moves are often characterized by Body Rolls, Hip Movements and Fluid Footwork. With its focus on BODY MOVEMENTS Reggaeton is a great way to improve your overall body awareness and coordination in a cheeky and fun way.

In Berta’s class you’ll learn the basics of Reggaeton, covering foundations such as Body Isolations, Basic steps, Hip and B***y movements Reggaeton is so famous for. You will also learn a short Routine!!

-Duration: 4 Weeks
-When: Sunday 21rst April – 12th May
-Time: 4.00pm – 5.15pm
-Where: Just Thrive Studios – 50 John St Whangarei
-Cost: $20 Casual OR $65 for the 4 Classes
