At our Matariki celebration, we were proud to launch our new guiding statement:
Ngā Rake Tihauora o Paparārangi – The Sheltering Trees of Paparārangi.
A place of warmth, protection, growth, and belonging for all.
Since then, as a teaching team, we have continued to reflect on what these words mean to us and, most importantly, what we want them to mean for our tamariki, whānau, kaiako and community.
To all our whānau, past and present, we hope this resonates with you and would love to hear your thoughts.

At Paparārangi, we want everyone to feel welcomed, valued and cared for. We strive to create a warm and inviting place where tamariki, whānau, kaiako and visitors feel genuinely welcomed and accepted for who they are.
🌳 A place of protection
Like the shelter of the trees, we want Paparārangi to be a place where people feel safe and secure. We nurture physical and emotional wellbeing and create an environment where tamariki feel confident to explore, take risks, have a go and know there are people around them who care and support them.
🌱 A place of growth
We believe everyone has their own way of learning, growing and making sense of the world. At Paparārangi, tamariki are encouraged to be themselves, follow their interests and learn in their own way and at their own pace, alongside others. We grow not only as individuals, but together – learning from one another, sharing our strengths and encouraging each other to try new things, build confidence and discover what we are capable of.
💚 A place of belonging
Belonging is at the heart of Paparārangi. We want tamariki and whānau to know that they are an important and valued part of our kindergarten community. Belonging is about the friendships and relationships we build, our connections with whānau and our wider community. It is knowing that you have a place here and that your connection with Paparārangi can continue long after your time at kindergarten has finished.
🌿 Our hope is that when people think of Paparārangi, they think of a place where they were welcomed, cared for, supported and encouraged to grow – a place where friendships were formed, connections were made and a sense of belonging was created.
