One of our amazing homestay families recently had the chance to reconnect with their international students while visiting Japan. It is moments like this that remind us what international education is truly all about.

What begins as hosting a student often becomes something much more, lifelong friendships, shared memories, and a second family across the world.

Thank you to our wonderful homestay families for opening your homes and hearts to our students. The impact you make lasts far beyond their time at school.

Students enjoyed the recent Coromandel Surf Safari 6-8 May 2026. Plenty of surfing, learning about the local area, hikes, NZ quizzes and laughter!

Our Matakana Island adventure is always a highlight on the calendar, and this year did not disappoint!

Over 3 days and 2 nights, our students fully embraced island life – pitching tents, sharing kai together, and swapping everyday comforts for a true outdoors experience. With a boat drop-off and no quick trip back, it was all about being present, resilient, and making the most of every moment.

From sharing stories over a traditional hāngī to night games under the stars, and taking on team challenges through activities, there was plenty of laughter, connection, and personal growth along the way.

What stood out most was the way students supported one another, stepped up to challenges, and built friendships that will last well beyond the trip.

During March we welcomed a small group of students from Thailand. They were at Pāpāmoa College for 2 weeks enjoying school life, making some wonderful kiwi friends and getting to experience a few trips/activities around our local area. They went surfing, spent a day in Rotorua and we also had an afternoon at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology participating in a Coding Workshop. We wish these students all the best for their future and we are sure the memories made here in NZ will be with them forever.

It has been a busy and fun first few weeks at Pāpāmoa College for our international students. We have had a homestay BBQ event, a pōwhiri (formal welcome), started classes, completed swim and water survival tests and competed in the full school athletics day!

Our first week of the End of Year Programme is off to a fantastic start! Students have been having an amazing time — from Skyline Adventures in Rotorua to learning how to cook Kiwi Kai, black water rafting, glow worm caves and surfing.

Plenty more fun and adventures still to come… stay tuned!

Today, we gathered for our final full school assembly of the year a special moment to farewell our Year 13 leavers as they step into life beyond school, and our International Students who are heading home soon after their time with us.

A huge thank you to Rosalie Gietenbruch (Year 11) who spoke beautifully about her experience here in New Zealand and at Pāpāmoa College.

Congratulations to all our students, may you continue to have the courage to embrace opportunities and create your own excellence wherever life takes you!
