Following inspiration from this week's particularly wet Monday weather, the concept of rain art came to mind 🌧️. Utilizing pippets to apply the paint facilitated the creation of a realistic dripping rain effect on the paper, and observing the paint flow down the paper was quite mesmerizing. πŸ’§β˜”

Chalk exploration this morning at Nikki's with the use of hammers! This was a bit of an experiment at first using the chalk dry and finding it took a bit of strength from the tamariki to break it so I decided to place the chalk firstly into water to soften it slightly and that worked perfectly! So with small hands and hammers they were able to "smash" the chalk and once dry it left a vibrant rainbow of colour behind on the black paper, simply stunning!! πŸŒˆπŸŽ†πŸŽ‡

🌿 Home-Based Childcare Space Available in Papamoa 🌿
Looking for nurturing, quality childcare in a calm home environment?

Hi, I’m Nikki, and I provide home-based childcare through Tiny nation here in Papamoa, within the Tahatai Coast School zone. I currently have a space available for a child aged 2 years and over.

My home offers a relaxed, welcoming environment where children feel safe, supported, and encouraged to explore and learn at their own pace. I value strong relationships, creativity, and creating meaningful experiences where tamariki can thrive.
Alongside the comforts of home-based care, I also provide regular community outings and opportunities for social connection with other Tiny Nation educators and their care children β€” creating a lovely balance of calm, exploration, play, and belonging.

If you’re looking for quality care for your little one, or you’re simply curious to learn more about home-based childcare, I’d love to chat and see whether this could be the right fit for your family.

We are very fortunate here at Nikki's to be able to attend a regular visit to one of our Tiny Nation educators who lives rurally on a lifestyle block. There she has sheep, chickens and pet ducks! πŸ¦†πŸ‘πŸ“
This is such an amazing opportunity for the tamariki to see up close to these animals and even get to help feed them which is such an anticipated and exciting part of the morning.

We really appreciate her opening her home to us to visit, there is certainly something very calming about being out in the country and being around animals we look forward to it every time! ❀️

This week we have had the fantastic opportunity to visit a local fire station alongside our Tiny Nation friends and experience and learn about what it takes to be a firefighter, how to prepare if there is a fire and what to do if we see a fire πŸ”₯
We got to see the fire truck up close and experience some of the amazing equipment they carry and use on the truck. A big thanks to the Maketu fire station for having us it was such a great experience and the children loved seeing a real life "Nee Naw" πŸš’πŸ‘©πŸΌβ€πŸš’πŸ”₯

Our fortnightly nature connections sees us getting out into the community and having social connection alongside our Tiny Nation friends at a wonderful park setting. The tamariki have the opportunity to both experience a natural play environment under a spectacular oak tree where just simply playing with leaves or collecting acorns to roll down the slide brings simple experimentation and joy and to also have a selection of play equipment to freely explore building on and testing physical skills.

Happy Easter!! 🐰🐣 We have thoroughly enjoyed participating in various Easter activities over the last couple of weeks, including art, playdough, books, rhymes, sensory play, and our annual Easter hunt morning with our Tiny Nation whanau. So many opportunities for exploration around our Easter theme have fostered a deeper understanding of these special events.
Have a wonderful Easter break!! πŸ‡πŸ£πŸ°πŸ«

We continued our Sea Week activities this week, building on the success of last week's programme. We commenced the week with a collaborative session, where our friends joined us for the morning and participated in a range of engaging, interactive activities designed to foster the tamariki's involvement, including a water spraying task that utilised crepe paper to create a colourful, droplet effect. Another activity featured moon dough, a captivating sensory experience that can be moulded and shaped, yet easily crumbles. We also attended our Tiny Nation playgroup, where we were presented with a continuation of sea-themed activities by our visiting teacher, who delivered a sensory presentation that the children thoroughly enjoyed.
