POST UPDATE:
The girls had two good wins today against Sancta Maria and Onehunga High to qualify top of their pool for the Top 8! Top 5 schools earn promotion to Division 2.

What a fantastic start to UNISS for our Premier Netball girls! Winning 3 out of their 4 games so far! The girls are currently sitting in the Top 16 of C Grade and will continue to battle it out to climb even higher.

So proud of the determination, teamwork, and effort they have shown on court 🤍💚

Update on the partnership between the Hynds Foundation and our construction students and their project to build a bridge with rails for a pedestrian crossing over a creek in Pokeno.
Our first real construction on the bridge happened yesterday. In order for this to happen, students had worked in our school workshop, cutting and grinding the metal plates.
Holes were drilled in the plates at exactly the required distance using a magnetic drill.
Once on-site, students followed the welder who welded the plated on the rails.
Everyone took turns in grinding, painting the plates, getting the joists to get bolted to the plates.
A fun day for all and the students got to enjoy good food afterwards.
There will be more trips in the coming weeks to get the entire joists installed and then the decking laid.

Learning Beyond the Classroom
Our senior Photography students recently had the opportunity to visit Forever Tomorrow: Chinese Art Now, exploring the work of contemporary Chinese artists working across photography, sculpture, digital media, installation and moving image.

A highlight of the visit was students creating their own Exquisite Co**se photographs using thermal cameras. Working collaboratively and experimenting with heat, composition and unexpected visual effects, students created imaginative photographic responses inspired by the exhibition.

The experience gave our ākonga the opportunity to develop their visual literacy, gather first-hand research and explore new approaches to inform their NCEA Photography portfolios.

A fantastic day of creativity, experimentation and learning beyond the classroom!

Our Tongan group, class and students and staff attended the Launch of Uike Lea-Faka Tonga 2026 yesterday at the SUTT Wesleyan Church in Mangere. The theme of Uike Lea Faka-Tonga this year is - “Ko ‘etau hiva, koe fe’unu mahu’inga ia ki he mo’ui ’a e Tonga” - “Our music is a vital strand of our Tongan culture”

25 schools were in attendance yesterday, and our students sang beautifully and represented our school with pride, heart and honour.

We wish you all a blessed Uike Lea Faka-Tonga 2026 🇹🇴
