And that’s a wrap 🕺 🥳

To finish off our term for Mana Ako we visited gravity again! We had so much fun being able to jump around and reach new heights while being outside the classroom. To top it all off, some pizza and ice cream to end the day.

We had a very special session last week at Mana Ako club, led by our very own students Kaysoi and Khaing Shwe! They prepared activities and a presentation, inspired by the pacific language weeks to teach us about their own Myanmar culture!

We learnt about the Burmese alphabet, Burmese cuisine and also some general facts about Myanmar. What an awesome way to share your culture girls, everyone had so much fun and you should be very proud of yourselves!

Cross country week!

Seeing as our students had cross country, it was only fitting that we learnt about the origins of cross country as well as the history of a marathon run through the story of Pheidippides. We also learnt about nutritional information and introduced the concept of calories within foods, a very fun week for our Mana Ako students!

Celebrating Samoan language week, our Mana Ako students got to learn a lot about Samoa and it’s rich culture! We learnt about Samoan folk stories, learnt some Samoan phrases and also learnt about a traditional Samoan method of cooking using an ‘umu’.

We also had some delicious panikeke (Samoan pancakes) and keke mamoe (lamb buns).

What a great time we had being able to use our theatrical and performing arts skills to express ourselves!

We played theatre sport games and did a lot of improvisation work in line with the term inquiry. We also took a deeper look into what Mana Ako means and stands for! Lights, camera, action! 🎭🎥

We have officially started for the year at Mana Ako! It was so awesome getting to meet all our Mana Ako students with more to come. We learnt about the country of Rotuma and we also covered different styles of learning. Tino pai to mahi Mana Ako club!

Merry Christmas from Mana Ako for 2023! Photographed here with their Christmas gift - Whittakers Limited Edition Christmas Bar. It has been so special to watch these young leaders grow and mature over the past year!
