Made this cake for a special wee man's 3rd birthday. This is the first time I tried my hand at making jungle animals. It did take time because of my rusty decoration skills. I was worried the giraffe looked like dinosaur😊 but my boys said that they look fine. After everything was in place, I was happy with the result☺️. What do you think?

My family loves soup and freshly baked bread for dinner for the cold winter nights. My boys love Ciabatta bread a lot. I was hesitant because of the wet and sticky dough. Made up my mind finally and gave it a go. But it turned out super easy. It was a perfect rustic Italian loaf with a wonderfully chewy center and a lot of irregular holes. I was proud of myself 😁

Multigrain Sourdough Country Bread, a chewy bread with wonderful flavor😋. It took me a week to get the starter and two days to make the bread. I added cooked barley, quinoa, rolled oats, buckwheat and rye flour. The boys loved it with pumpkin soup. It makes a wonderful toast too.

This time it is Anadama Bread during the lockdown baking. This is one of the great New England breads.
There is an interesting story regarding the name. According to Judith and Evan Jones, in their "The book of Bread", there was a man from Massachusetts, who was upset with his wife not only for leaving him but also for leaving behind only cornmeal and some molasses. The angry husband tossed the cornmeal and molasses with some yeast and flour and muttered, "Anna, damn' er". This was later amended as it was retold many times as Anadama.
This is a wonderful bread with cornmeal, molasses and bread flour and earned me a pretty good feedback from my boys😁

I love baking breads. This time, I tried the Multigrain Straun Bread, and it came out very well. It is a harvest bread originated in Scotland. This wonderful bread contains Cornmeal, Rolled Oats, Quinoa, Wheat Bran and Brown Rice. It makes wonderful toast and sandwiches. If anyone wants to give it a go, the recipe is from Peter Reinhart's book "The Bread Baker's Apprentice". This book is available in the City Library.
