It was an absolute privilege to welcome a very special guest to our Year 7 & 8 classes today: Torty the Tortoise. As a living piece of history who was smuggled into NZ following her "service" in WWI, Torty brought the past to life in a way no textbook ever could. We were all captivated by the stories of her incredible adventures during the war and since arriving on our shores. It was truly an honour to meet such a resilient survivor and to connect so personally with a piece of history.

Last week Pare and Vicky, Anzac outreach educators from the Waiouru Army Museum, visited our Year 9 classes to talk to them about life for soldiers in WWI and, more recently, for soldiers who served in Afghanistan. Students especially enjoyed the role play presentations and the opportunity to try on WWI army uniforms and handle different military artefacts.
Thank you, Pare and Vicky, the students came away with a deeper understanding of the bravery and sacrifices made for our freedom.

This week our junior students attended the Te Mana o te Hā showcase at Te Manawa. An informative exhibition with interactive displays exploring the impacts of smoking and va**ng to inspire healthier, smokefree futures. Next week our seniors will attend.
Thank you, Cancer Society Manawatu and Te Manawa.

This term, our Year 11 Health students have been diving deep into the complexities of Stress Management. After exploring various psychological strategies to keep the pressure at bay, today they traded their desks for the outdoors of Himatangi Beach to explore how connecting with nature can rewire our brains for relaxation. From lower heart rates to clearer heads, it turns out the best "recharge" doesn't require a power outlet!

Be still, and know that I am God - Psalm 46:10

We’re back from our Year 7 & 8 camp, and what an amazing few days it was! Our students represented our school with pride – showing teamwork, resilience, and a great sense of fun throughout all the activities. From trying new challenges to supporting one another, they were an awesome group to take away. A big thank you to the staff and everyone who helped make camp such a success. We’re proud of every single student and the way they embraced the experience.

What a beautiful day for Day 2 of our Year 7&8 camp. Today we rock climbed, kayaked, had a go at archery, practiced wilderness survival and are waiting for it to get dark to walk a night trail.

Year 13 camp. Final day. Everyone pitched in for pack up and cleaning then we visited the Tongariro National Park Visitor Centre and Tawhai Falls before heading off to Turangi to go rafting which was loads of fun. Chip butties were a hit after all that paddling, with a Maccas stop halfway home.
Thanks to our Year 13s for being a fun group of students and for the van singing wars.
Thanks to our camp staff for all their hard work and dedication, and to Mrs Korte for the massive amount of prep work that made the camp possible.

Our Year 7&8 students arrived at El Rancho camp today and are having a blast! They have already done a scavenger hunt, been down the waterslide and played glow dodgeball. Our staff have been impressed with their ‘give it a go’ attitudes.

Year 13 camp. Taupo WATER day! After a bit of a sleep in, we hit the road for Rainbow Point. The brave ones went for a swim in the cold lake, then we enjoyed a BBQ lunch. Everyone appreciated the power of Huka Falls and the dam opening at Aratiatia Rapids. We finished the day with a swim at DeBretts Hot Springs and loads of pizza. Thank you to Mrs C for driving up to hang out with us today. The students were so excited to see you. Super enjoyable day😊
