Atelier : Art School in the studio

We are trialling a Sunday Afternoon Life Drawing Sessions at Te Manawa next weekend, the 21st of June from 1pm-3pm. It happens to be winter solstice, what better way to spend the day than in a warmed room drawing from a model! $5 for the session, making it cheap to start with, bring your own materials. We will be in the education space upstairs in the art gallery, pay at the front desk (cash only). Please be a little early so as to set up your spot as we plan to start drawing not long after 1! Life Drawing is drawing from the human form, Rock n Roll is ... well Rock n Roll.... smash them together and what do you have?... ROCK N ROLL Life Drawing!... The plan is this: 6-6.45 a special surprise treat drawing from a model under gravity defying conditions, 7pm a REAL ROCK Band to draw from!... Inspired Abstracts : The mechanics of Paint
Monday 3 February – 10th March 7-9pm (6 weeks) $110
Explore the wonders of colour, texture, transparency, layering and form. A class to inspire you by walking through a number of starting points for abstraction, and exploring mark making to build up a picture that is rich and visually interesting. Work in either Acrylic or Oil Paints.

Kids after School sessions : 8years+
Mondays starting 3rd February 3.30 - 5pm (bookings essential) $15 class or $120 per term.
A chance for young people to learn basic techniques in drawing and painting. Weekly exercises in a fun and creative environment. Students will need to supply materials.

Figuratively Speaking : Painting from imagery
Tuesdays 4th February – 11th March 2014 7-9pm (6weeks) $110
Starting with a figurative image to hang paint on, learn the process required to translate a photograph of your choice into a painting that is embued with a painterly language. Try new things! Explore new techniques! Beginners welcome!

Sunday Sessions
Sundays starting 2nd Feb 10.30-12.30 casual $18 per session or $130 per term (10 weeks)
Working with a range of mediums we will develop ideas and foster dialogue about conceptual and creative development within the group. Bring a project you have started, or a seed of an idea and let it germinate, or let the studio situation feed your inspiration!

FAQ!
Who is the tutor? Kirsty Porter is the tutor for all Atelier in the studio sessions. She graduated with a Grad Dip. in Fine Arts (painting) from Quay School of the Arts in Whanganui in 2013, and with a Dip. Visual Arts from RMIT (Melbourne) in 2004. She has tutored at QEC and Feilding High School Adult continuing education programmes and at Ochre Art School and is a founding member and current chairperson of the Palmerston North Life Drawing Society.

What materials will I need? Some basic materials will be supplied, however students will also need to bring their own. A list of materials will be given on enrolment with option to suit most budgets.
