A fantastic day at Mathex today for our Ōpiki students.

Our students did a great job competing, working together and putting their problem-solving skills to the test.
Our Year 8 team finished around the middle of the field with 14 points, while our Year 7s earned Bronze and our Year 6s achieved an impressive Silver!

Well done to all our students for their effort, teamwork and perseverance. We’re very proud of you all!

A huge congratulations to our Year 7 & 8 Hockey Team, who went undefeated for the entire season!

Friday night’s final was an absolute thriller! Our team faced a talented Ashhurst side in an intense game that ultimately came down to a penalty shoot-out. What an amazing game to watch, the pressure, determination and teamwork were incredible! We are so proud of our team for keeping their composure, backing each other and finishing the season in first place.

A massive thank you to Mark and Nikki for coaching the team and to Sheree for managing. Your time, support and commitment have been hugely appreciated. A huge thank you to all of the supporters/whānau who got the students to games and practices.

Well done, team, what an incredible way to finish the season!

I had a great time today sharing a milo and a chat with some of our student leaders about recycling at Ōpiki School, especially how we can do better with soft plastics.

These girls came to the table full of energy, ideas, and genuine care for our environment. Their creativity was inspiring, and it's clear they're ready to lead the charge on making our school more sustainable.

Watch this space, some exciting new recycling initiatives are coming to Ōpiki School soon, thanks to the passion and problem-solving of our amazing students
