ETC in Browns Bay, Auckland offers an 'English and Activities' programme to our international students. We teach English in the classroom through traditional methods and add in fun activities where students apply their learnt English in social settings. Monday’s activity was team challenges. The teams competed against each other doing fun challenges like Cup Towers, Ping Pong Cups, Balloon Hoop, Relays picking items up with straws, races passing items with straws, and more. They got the giggles on several occasions.
Cecilia from China and Ranitea from Tahiti are posing with their team’s fabulous Cup Tower.
Minshuo and Amy from China are working hard with Manoa from Tahiti to build their Cup Tower as quickly as possible.
Tuesday’s activity was an Escape room experience escaping out of a traditional kiwi bach, working together to solve puzzles in time. Unfortunately we can’t reveal the secrets from inside the Escape Room bach… but we can say that the group had a blast and escaped successfully!

One of our Pre-Intermediate international classes visited the Wellington Waterfront and Wellington Central Library yesterday.
The Wellington Central Library reopened this year after being closed for seven years, so the students really enjoyed the atmosphere and exploring the many books and spaces inside the library.
Wellington has many library and study spaces where our students can learn outside of the classroom. 📖📚📔📝💙

This morning, Donna took our international students to visit the Awahou South School exhibition at Te Manawa. They experienced what a New Zealand classroom was like over 100 years ago... very different to our modern classrooms!

Our students also had the opportunity to share their knowledge and skills. Will, who is from China, taught the class how to use a Chinese abacus, while Prabhath, from Sri Lanka and a former mathematics teacher, taught a maths lesson in the old schoolhouse.

It was a wonderful, interesting, and fun cultural learning experience for everyone!

On Thursday 9 July International Students from ETC Palmerston North visited the Robotic Dairy Farm – where cows milk themselves - as part of their educational experience.

This is a unique family owned and operated organic certified robotic dairy farm in Bunnythorpe near Palmerston North, where fully grass fed cows are milked voluntarily by robots. Our farming community is simply amazing!

Everyone who participated in the visit had a wonderful time and learned heaps about cows and robots. Many of our students in Palmerston North are interested in farm and rural studies so the opportunity to get up close can be life changing 🐮🐮🐮
