Support services may not be always able to provide face to face help, at least not immediately. Here is an UPDATE of who is open and how:
Safe to Talk will be with you immediately if you text them at 4334. They also have free to call number that is answered by a human right away: 0800 044 344
And on their website, they provide a chat option: https://safetotalk.nz
ARCS Manawatū (Abuse & R**e Crisis Support) is open, but you need to wait until the answering phone kicks in and write down the numbers they have for follow up locally. They recommend using Safe to Talk for immediate support.
Massey Manawatū Health and Counselling has a receptionist answer the phone and remains open to supporting students who experience any acts of violence against them. They are working remotely, usually using Zoom, so this does represent a challenge. However, their normal protocols still work (remotely) as do referrals to e.g. mental health and police support.
MUSA Advocacy Services (both distance and internal) are only an email away and continue to support the work of Thursday’s in Black Manawatū.
Thursdays in Black Manawatū will continue to advocate against any form of sexual violence, family violence, and r**e and support survivors to the best of their abilities.
