Our Kea House Leaders, Ayla and Thea, did a great job hosting Kotahitanga today! The competency we are focusing on for the next two weeks is Creativity | Auahatanga. We define Creativity | Auahatanga as 'We imagine, innovate, and create.' The House Challenge involved learners demonstrating their creativity by drawing a picture on a piece of paper on somebody's back. Learners then had to 'pass' the picture to the front of their team by repeating this task. Congratulations to Kea, who won today's competition.

Wearable Junk
Creativity was front and center last Tuesday. Our community came together to celebrate the ingenuity of our learners using what others would throw away.
Thank you so much to all the entrants for providing us with a real spectacle of imagination and originality and congratulations to all the Place Winners and Creative Award recipients.

On Friday, 25 Year 5 and 6 learners represented CSNS at the annual Interschool Mathex competition at the Awapuni Racecourse. Our learners performed exceptionally well in a very tough and competitive event consisting of practical maths tasks, and quick fire questions. This year we entered teams in the Competitive and Challenge sections of the competition. In the Challenge section, our Year 6 team placed in the Silver bracket, and the Year 5 team placed in the Gold bracket. Well done!

In the Competitive section, our Year 5 teams placed 1st and 3rd equal, and our Year 6 teams placed 3rd equal (finishing only 3 points off the competition winners) and 11th equal. Congratulations to Shaun, Maia, Emily and Eliza for winning the Year 5 Competition; congratulations to Soham, Sean, Addi and Stevie for coming third in the Year 5 Competition; and congratulations to Jacob, Aaron, Ranveer and Nicola for coming third in the Year 6 Competition. We are extremely proud of you all!

Thank you to all the parents who came to cheer on our learners. A big thank you to Mr Valentine for all the time he spends coaching our learners for this event!

This week, our Pod 4 learners held their first market with products that each class had designed and created as part of their class business. The children and teachers had so much fun shopping!

Today a team of learners represented CSNS at the Inter-school Hockey Tournament, and they had a fantastic day!

Making the final against some tough competition was a huge achievement. After being 4–0 down at halftime in the grand final, the team dug deep, showed incredible resilience and fought back to finish the second half 1–1, with a final score of 5-1, coming away with 2nd place overall!

A massive well done to all our players. What an effort!

A big thank you to David Bayley for all the trainings leading up to today and for coaching the team. Thank you to our whānau who came along to support us!

Kind Hearts Manawatu

Our librarians and digi leaders were lucky enough to attend the Kind Hearts Manawatu event at the Awapuni Silks lounge on Wednesday. They were motivated to step outside their comfort zone by kiwi explorer William Pike and guided through how to express emotions through art by comic artist and illustrator Ant Sang. Alan Dingley, reading ambassador, drama teacher and performer shared his insights into the power of words and finally we were all entertained by the interactive and improvised show from Imagination Station. It was a fantastic morning of thought provoking and inspirational presenters. Thank you Kind Hearts!
