SENSORY DIRT!

Something a bit different today our kaiako Molly has made some sensory dirt for the tamariki to explore!

Sensory play engages a child's senses through touch, smell, sight, taste, and movement. It builds nerve connections in the brain, supports physical and language skills, and provides a calming effect for emotional regulation!

Our playhouse has had a wee bit of a spruce up! We have been busy hanging some wallpaper from a parent and moved some furniture in to make it more homely!!

The tamariki are loving the new vibe and enjoying hosting each other for some tea parties!!🫖☕️

When tamariki are curious and explorative, they naturally discover new ways to think, learn, and solve problems through hands-on play and trial and error.

You can just imagine the wonderment on the children’s faces when they discovered a new way to create a rainbow by using all the colours at once rather than one at a time! 🌈🌈🌈

Yesterday our kaiako Molly got the children to make some alphabet soup at 4 year old mat time.
This provided opportunities for them to identify letters and then place them in alphabetical order while facilitating turn taking!

Much fun was had they even recreated the game by themselves later in the day!

Regularly changing up our playground supports the children to test out their bodies physical capabilities while allowing them to manage and assess risks during their play!! We love nurturing confident risk takers!!

Exciting news for our Active Explorers Grey Street team 😁😁😁 Our team is complete with the return of Siobhan from maternity leave and the appointment of Olivia to our Pohutukawa Room. Our hard working Suchi has finished her study and will become registered in the weeks to come. Our team continues to go from strength to strength 💪

Yesterday was our lovely Cook Shaji’s birthday so today the tamariki suprised him with a birthday mat time and of course a birthday crown and cake!!

Yesterday we made some chalk paint and got a little messy painting the pavement!

Such a simple activity that provided hours of fun for the tamariki 🖌️🎨
