Social Socks

Social Socks Enriching the lives of young children, equipping them with the social and personal skills to flourish in society.

Social Socks is a programme developed by trained counsellors to help children who struggle socially and emotionally. The programme is delivered by trained staff using puppets, workbooks and hands-on activities. Social Socks Programmes are taught to junior school children, and each Programme works with a whole class of children for an hour a week over 7 weeks. At the moment, Social Socks is working

with schools in the Palmerston North areas, and developing a training programme to bring this valuable resource to children throughout our region and beyond. Please get in touch to see how you can partner with us to help kids live healthier happier lives.

Sorry dear folks, Facebook post being hacked, the Social Socks Facebook is going to be a thing of the past too.

Just to let you know nothing is going to stop us doing what we love to do. To make a difference in the lives of the people we simply love to serve, here in Palmy.

We are continuing to be asked to do amazing things which we never thought possible. The latest is a principal wants us to teach her staff the lesson as we teach the children. The programme is changing lives of both young and old

How exciting the adventures to be had. Never give up on your dreams dear folks to make a difference in the lives of those around you. Wherever you are called to serve.

Staff at Mooma cafe, Ambulance, police, Army doctor who just happened to be at the scene. Team at ED. I'm so on your case. Singing your Praise!! Thank you so much for all you do. You seriously are amazing!!
Never take anything for granted folks. It is so great to be live. Can't wait to get back on the road. There is work to be done!!

On my goodness to all the people who helped us celebrate 10 years of Social Socks you blew us away. To Paul from Flame 'n' Flavour and your mates at Knead Bakery you took the cake!! Everyone attended had such a Joyful time. To The Master of Gingerbread, thank you so much for the biscuits we could give to our support crew. Everyone has a purpose, we all have our own specific gifting. Such fun setting up and packing up. To everyone who helped a huge thank you.

We had such a blast too. Exhausted afterwards.

Only 7 sleeps till Christmas Jo!! Can't believe how quickly the year has zipped by. It has been so much fun seeing ALL the tamariki at Cloverlea School this past year. They did so well learning about the different emotions and how to be a good friend. The Social Socks team have been truly amazing. Miss you already. Can't wait till next year and going back to Milson School. Merry Christmas everyone, and stay safe.

Yay, we are back on the road again this coming Monday. Can't wait to see those awesome legend at Cloverlea School. Sure have missed them along with all my Social Socks family. It's hard we people can't meet up with each other. Feel for those who are still in lockdown. Hope your taking care of yourself and each other.

Don't forget to play it safe and put yourself inside you bubble everyone.

Sorry we haven't been in touch for so long.

This year is the first time we have trailed a whole school wide programme from new entrants to year 6.

Incredible to be part of your school community Cloverlea, we are saddened not be be able to come at present.

Thank you so much for believing us Leiana and your team. Everyone is a legend, is the motto they have.

Thinking of everyone at this unsettled time. We can do this New Zealand please look out for each other.

This weeks session at Social Socks is called 'I am special'.
'He tangata motuhake au'. The children had so much fun drawing themselves in their workbook and doing their thumbprint. Learning each person is unique and different. This is the way we are meant to be..
They also helped me to write up on the 'You are special cause you... ' poster for our dear friend Lucy, which we shared with Lucy. It was amazing. They recognised Lucy was determined, she didn't want to remain shy. She was a kind, a good friend and grateful.

The children really knew how to show us they were grateful. Each time Lucy and I stopped for the children to go and do their small group activity they clapped and said kind words. Gee, this really did make me feel so happy as I did have lots of things that didn't go so well for me during the week.

Yesterday was another awesome day at Cloverlea School.

Children again made their own sock puppets. They were so creative and managed their emotions amazingly well when there wasn't the resources they were wanting. Instead of staying stuck feeling disappointed they used their 'Initiative' and were creative and had so much fun.

Super awesome you young wise students. Fabulous skills you are learning and taking out into the community. You Rock!! Simply can't wait to see you all next week.

Hi everyone
It's been simply yonks since I got to share something on our Social Socks page.

Today we have some really exciting news to share.

Our team was back delivering the 7-week programme to Year 2 and 3 children and they all had so much fun!!

This year is the first time we are running a programme for all the children at a whole school. Their principal was just amazing, she was so keen to have us last year, then Covid came. So we got busy writing the programme for the older kids.

Next week Lucy and I simply can't wait as we get to go along as well.

Thank you so much dear staff and children at Cloverlea School for making us feel so welcome. You are simply the best.
