✨ Celebrating Matariki Together ✨
What a wonderful evening it was! Thank you to all our whānau who joined us for our Matariki Disco Night. It was so special to see everyone enjoying themselves, sharing laughs, dancing, and celebrating together.
A special thank you to our incredible Riverglade team. So much time, care, and teamwork went into making the evening possible, and it was all worth it seeing the smiles on our tamariki and whānau. We truly appreciate everyone's willingness to pitch in and make the night such a success.
To those who couldn't make it, we hope you had a lovely Matariki celebrating with your own whānau.
Thank you all for being part of our Riverglade community. We loved celebrating Matariki with you. 💙

Matariki Celebrations ✨
As part of our Matariki learning, our pēpi room has been getting our rūma ready. My star focus is Tupuārangi, one of the nine whetū (stars) in the Matariki cluster, which is connected to everything that grows above the earth. Tupuārangi serves as the guardian of the sky, native birds, fruits, and berries.
Historically, Māori observed this star as a sign to harvest and preserve forest birds for the winter months. Through our learning, we have been connecting with Tupuārangi by nurturing fruits and berries and learning about different birds and the fruits they enjoy.
The tamariki have been busy collecting fruit in their shopping carts and exploring a variety of fruits. We also made smoothies together as a class, alongside the other rooms. The tamariki thoroughly enjoyed adding their fruit to the blender, and the best part was drinking their delicious smoothies afterwards. Yummy!

✨ Matariki Celebrations ✨
As part of our Matariki learning, we read the beautiful story ‘The Seven Kites of Matariki’. Inspired by the book, the tamariki created their own kites, exploring creativity while learning about the significance of Matariki and the importance of coming together, sharing stories, and celebrating new beginnings.
