Nau mai haere mai!

We welcome all whānau to visit us here at Paekākāriki Playcentre. We run mixed age sessions for ages birth - 6 years.
Monday Tuesday Friday 9am - 12pm

Playcentre is free!

We have a range of caregivers on session from nannies to mums and dads, poppas, aunties, uncles. And our membership is from both inside and outside the village.

🪺 Dyeing eggs today in anticipation of Easter. 🐣 Tamariki collected flowers and leaves from the garden. Stuck them to eggs using vinegar. Wrapped tightly in muslin. Boiled til the colour stuck. And what beauties they are!

Ngā putiputi! 🌸
Today one of our whānau spotted the ‘free plants’ sign in the village. Our tamariki got their hi vis on and made the haerenga to acquire some new plants for the Playcentre garden. Our garden was needing some love ever since the digger came in to replace the septic tank, and the builder re-did the decking.

Thanks KCDC! (And thanks KCDC for keeping our public spaces looking so appealing 🌹) Let us know if there are anymore free plants and the haerenga shall commence 😉 🙌

Last week the weather was sunny, the sea was settled, and our whānau travelled to Kapiti Island for a special trip more than a year in the making. After some furious fundraising and a generous grant from the Campe Estate Trust (ngā mihi nui! Paekākāriki Community Board for the recommendation) we were able to take all of our tamariki (including their tuakana, many of them alumni) to the motu.
We saw weka, takahē, pīwakawaka, and plenty of beautiful native flora. We finished the day off with a quick dip in the clear blue moana.
Thank you to Kapiti Island Nature Tours for the expert guidance and making it such a great experience for all. And a huge, huge thanks to all those who sponsored our raffle, attended our comedy fundraiser, and all the bits in between! 💜 💛
