This morning, some of our younger tamariki enjoyed a beautiful and rich learning experience, combining NZ Sign Language (NZSL) with animal puppets, which is a fantastic, multi-sensory way to build communication, confidence, and cultural connection here in the Pēpi room!

When your tamaiti is elbow-deep in paint, squishing it between their fingers, and happily smacking the paper with a masher, they aren't just making a spectacular mess—they are running their very own creative science lab!

Your little artist is engaged in "process art." This means they don't care about making a perfect picture of a house or a tree; they’re just completely in love with the magic of doing it. Every single squish, splash, and streak is actually a massive workout for their growing brain and physical development.

🌟 Kia ora e te Whānau! 🌟

We need a little help from our amazing community to keep our tamariki safe and our centre running smoothly, especially during busy drop-off and pick-up times.

Please help us with two important things:
1️⃣ The Front Gate: For safety reasons, please do not allow any children to open the gate. This is a strict rule to ensure no little ones accidentally escape. Adults only for gate duty, please!
2️⃣ Keeping it Calm: We work really hard to maintain a quiet, calm, and respectful environment at our centre. Loud noises and high energy can be very overwhelming for many of our tamariki, especially at the end of the day.

If older siblings are coming along for pick-up, please ensure they walk inside and keep their voices down rather than running around.

We love seeing all our beautiful families every day, and we appreciate your support in keeping ŌELC a safe and peaceful space for everyone!

What an absolute blast we all had visiting the Ōtaki Domain as a whole centre! We packed up our trolley with physical activity games and resources, making for a truly wonderful time.It was beautiful to see so many Tuakana–Teina relationships in action, with wonderful interactions happening across all ages. We loved seeing our tamariki engage so beautifully with the local community, making our outing even more special. Dressed up bright and colorful for Daffodil Day, it was the perfect way to wrap up our week!

Thank you Whaea Sarah for putting together a wonderful post about our amazing book week!The week was full of so many creative setups and activities by our lovely kaiako, igniting a curiosity for learning through each specific book and story chosen.
