Our next local Toastmasters club meeting is this coming Thursday August 13 at 7.30pm. YOU ARE WELCOME!

Meet Elaine, a regular member who contributes and is gowing skills it feels like every time she fills a role at a meeting. Last time I saw her in action was delivering a very useful evaluation for one of our speakers. Great work Elaine!

If your main question about this pic is what's the sheep, then good observation skills. You have made your first leap into Toastmasters. Come along as a guest, we will answer that question with a live demonstration of the sheep in action for you.

If improving your communication or leadership skills are a life or work priority, come and see if we might be helpful. No RSVP needed, no obligations, just show up.

We meet every other Thursday at 7:20pm for 7:30pm start, in person (and via Zoom on request) at St Andrews Presbyterian Church, 107 Centerway Road, Orewa. So given we are meeting this week on the 13th, the next meeting after that is the 27th

Ever wondered what makes a speech unforgettable?

Every great speech follows a simple shape: a beginning that grabs attention, a middle that delivers the goods, and an end that leaves you with something to remember — and act on.

At Silverdale-Orewa Toastmasters Club , you'll see this in action. Watch members at every stage of their speaking journey, hear thoughtful feedback that unpacks what worked (and why), and before long you'll find yourself thinking: I could do that too.

Come along as our guest — our next meeting is Thursday, August 13, 7:20pm for a 7:30pm start. We meet in person at St Andrews Presbyterian Church, 107 Centerway Road, Orewa. All welcome, no experience needed!

Toastmasters is all about personal growth, the best kind, self managed and therefore uniquely tailored to you. The smorgasbord of guided learning you can pick from is extensive (we call it the "Pathways Learning Experience"(TM)) and it's getting expanded.

An exciting new Pathways learning experience is on the way! Explorations are a new type of educational content that dive deeper into specific topics through a series of three projects.

The first exploration, Online Meeting Mastery, will launch later this year. As we get closer to its release, they’re sharing a preview.

We'll be running that preview soon in our club.

Toastmasters International and Toastmasters New Zealand & Fiji and locally us here at Silverdale-Orewa Toastmasters Club are excited to bring you new opportunities to build your skills and grow as a communicator. Come join us as a guest at any of our meetings, all detailed at https://orewa.toastmastersclubs.org/calendar.html

Great speakers rehearse out loud exactly as they plan to deliver any and every speech. They start a timer (probably just using their phone timer) to ensure they reach and stay within their assigned limits. Importantly they practice with any equipment they will be using. They should also have a Plan B in case of a tech disaster! I found myself in exactly that situation recently, so my backup notes saw me past the useful prompts my images had in them!

Join us at Silverdale-Orewa Toastmasters Club for a safe space to make this happen well!

Our next local Toastmasters club meeting is this coming Thursday July 16 at 7.30pm.

This is what I look like after I have been away overseas for 3 weeks and realise I have to write a speech for that meeting. But I will, come see me give the first run of a few outings of a speech that I hope might make the grade as a competition speech one day...although to be fair as a District Officer I can't compete for a while!

Guests are more than welcome at all our meetings, it's an obligation free visit to see how this works for you. If improving your communication skills are a life or work priority, come and see if we might be helpful. No RSVP needed, just show up.

We meet every other Thursday at 7:20pm for 7:30pm start, in person (and via Zoom on request) at St Andrews Presbyterian Church, 107 Centerway Road, Orewa.

Our next Toastmasters club meeting is this coming Thursday July 2 at 7.30pm. As you can see, for most speakers we have a riveted audience and one guy looking down as they make notes to give their evaluation for the speaker. Toastmasters is about gaining skills and confidence and a cornerstone of that is each speaker's time on stage is evaluated with positive feedback and ideas for difference and improvement.

Guests are more than welcome, it's an obligation free meeting to see how this works for you. If improving your communication skills are a life or work priority, come and see if we might be helpful. No RSVP needed, just show up. At our last meeting we exploded at the seams with guests.

We meet every other Thursday at 7:20pm for 7:30pm start, in person (and via Zoom on request) at St Andrews Presbyterian Church, 107 Centerway Road, Orewa.

At the start of a journey to a great presentation, step one is to know your material. This will probably be the foundation of the presentation. Be prepared to research the heck out of your material. In a perfect world speak on a topic you are passionate about and know well. Being an expert builds intrinsic confidence. If you don't have the expertise, be prepared to commit to gaining it with reading and other learnings to build that awareness and insight into what you have been asked or told to speak about.
